Product Overview

Introduction of Yaz Tablet 28s

Yaz Tablet is a combined oral contraceptive pill belonging to the class of hormonal contraceptives, and it contains two active ingredients — drospirenone (3 mg) and ethinylestradiol (0.02 mg) — that work together as a carefully balanced hormonal formula. If you are considering this tablet, it is good to know upfront that like most hormonal pills, some women may experience side effects such as nausea, headaches, breast tenderness, and mood changes, especially during the first few weeks of use. This is a prescription-based medicine, so you will need a valid doctor's recommendation before purchasing or starting it. We understand you may have questions about safety, suitability, and what to expect — and that is completely normal, because being informed is the first step to making the right health decision for yourself.

How to Take Yaz Tablet

Yaz Tablet should be taken orally once daily, at approximately the same time each day, with or without food, following the order indicated on the blister pack. Each pack contains 28 tablets — 24 active pink tablets followed by 4 inactive white tablets — and you should begin a new pack immediately after finishing the previous one without any break. It is important to swallow the tablet whole with water and not to crush or chew it, and if you miss a dose, follow the missed-dose instructions provided in the patient information leaflet or consult your pharmacist.

Dosage of Yaz Tablet

The standard recommended dose of Yaz Tablet is one tablet daily for 28 consecutive days, taken in the sequence as directed on the pack, with no pill-free interval between packs. Your doctor will advise you on when to start your first pack based on your individual health profile and menstrual cycle timing.

Shelf Life of Yaz Tablet

Yaz Tablet generally has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture, as indicated on the packaging. Always check the expiry date printed on the blister pack and outer carton before use, and do not take the tablet if the expiry date has passed. Using expired hormonal tablets is not recommended as the potency and safety of the active ingredients may no longer be guaranteed.

How to Store Yaz Tablet

  • Store Yaz Tablet at room temperature below 30°C
  • Keep the tablets in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture
  • Do not store in the bathroom or near a sink where humidity levels are high
  • Keep the medicine out of reach of children and pets at all times
  • Store the tablets in their original blister pack and outer carton until ready for use
  • Do not transfer tablets to another container unless advised by a pharmacist
  • If you notice any discolouration, unusual smell, or changes in the tablet's appearance, do not use it and consult your pharmacist

Active Ingredient of Yaz Tablet

Active IngredientStrength
Drospirenone3 mg
Ethinylestradiol0.020 mg (20 mcg)

Drospirenone is a synthetic progestogen with anti-androgenic and anti-mineralocorticoid properties, while Ethinylestradiol is a synthetic form of oestrogen. Together, these two hormones form the active core of this combined oral contraceptive formulation. Each pack also contains 4 inactive (placebo) tablets that contain no hormonal ingredients.

⚠️ Always disclose your full medical history and current medications to your doctor before starting Yaz Tablet.

Drug & Food Interactions of Yaz Tablet

Yaz Tablet may interact with certain medicines, supplements, and foods. These interactions can either reduce the effectiveness of the tablet or increase the risk of side effects. Always inform your doctor or pharmacist about everything you are currently taking.

Medicines that may reduce the effectiveness of Yaz Tablet:

  • Anticonvulsants / Anti-epileptics — phenytoin, carbamazepine, barbiturates, primidone, topiramate, oxcarbazepine
  • Antibiotics and Antifungals — rifampicin, rifabutin, griseofulvin
  • HIV/AIDS medications — ritonavir, nelfinavir, nevirapine, efavirenz
  • Herbal supplements — St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is known to significantly reduce hormonal contraceptive efficacy

Medicines that may increase the risk of side effects or interact with Yaz Tablet:

  • Potassium-sparing diuretics — spironolactone, eplerenone (risk of elevated potassium due to drospirenone's anti-mineralocorticoid activity)
  • ACE inhibitors and ARBs — enalapril, losartan (may increase potassium levels)
  • NSAIDs — ibuprofen, naproxen (potential potassium interaction with long-term use)
  • Cyclosporine — hormonal contraceptives may increase plasma levels
  • Lamotrigine — combined oral contraceptives may reduce lamotrigine levels, potentially affecting seizure control

Food & Lifestyle Interactions:

  • Grapefruit juice — may slightly affect the metabolism of ethinylestradiol; moderate consumption is generally acceptable but worth discussing with your doctor
  • Alcohol — does not directly reduce contraceptive efficacy but may affect liver metabolism and increase side effect risks
  • Smoking — significantly increases the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects, particularly in women over 35; smoking while taking Yaz Tablet is strongly discouraged

💡 This is not an exhaustive interaction list. Always consult your healthcare provider or pharmacist before combining Yaz Tablet with any new medication or supplement.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: Can I buy Yaz Tablet online in Malaysia?
Yes, Yaz Tablet is available for purchase through licensed online pharmacies in Malaysia. However, as it is a prescription-only medicine (POM), you will need to provide a valid prescription from a registered doctor before your order can be processed. Our online pharmacy operates in full compliance with Malaysian pharmaceutical regulations to ensure your safety.

Q2: Do I need a prescription to order Yaz Tablet from your online pharmacy in Malaysia?
Yes, absolutely. Yaz Tablet is classified as a prescription medicine in Malaysia, which means a valid doctor's prescription is required for every purchase. You can upload your prescription during the checkout process on our website. We do not dispense prescription medicines without proper documentation — this is for your safety and is required by Malaysian law.

Q3: How do I know if the Yaz Tablet I am buying online is genuine and authentic?
We source all our medicines directly from authorised distributors and registered pharmaceutical suppliers in Malaysia. Every product sold on our platform is verified for authenticity and comes in its original manufacturer packaging with proper batch numbers and expiry dates. You can also verify the product registration status through the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) Malaysia at bpfk.gov.my.

Q4: Is your online pharmacy licensed to sell prescription medicines in Malaysia?
Yes. Our online pharmacy is registered and licensed in accordance with the requirements of the Pharmacy Board Malaysia and operates under the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH). We are committed to providing safe, legal, and authentic pharmaceutical products to all our customers across Malaysia.

Q5: How long does delivery take for Yaz Tablet within Malaysia?
We offer delivery across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. Standard delivery typically takes 3 to 5 working days, while express delivery options may be available for selected areas. All orders are packed discreetly and securely to protect the integrity of the medicine during transit. You will receive a tracking number once your order has been dispatched.

Q6: Will my Yaz Tablet be delivered safely without affecting the medicine's quality?
Yes. We use temperature-appropriate, protective packaging to ensure that your medicine arrives in perfect condition. Our packaging is designed to shield the tablets from moisture, heat, and physical damage during delivery. If you ever receive a damaged or tampered package, please contact our customer service team immediately for assistance.

Q7: Can I order Yaz Tablet from East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak)?
Yes, we deliver to both East and West Malaysia, including Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan. Delivery timelines to East Malaysia may be slightly longer — typically 5 to 7 working days — depending on your specific location. Shipping fees may vary based on your delivery address.

Q8: What should I do if my Yaz Tablet arrives expired or damaged?
If your order arrives with an expired, damaged, or tampered product, please do not use it and contact our customer support team immediately with your order details and photos of the product. We will arrange for a replacement or refund in accordance with our return and exchange policy.

Q9: How should I store Yaz Tablet after it is delivered to my home?
Once received, store Yaz Tablet at room temperature below 30°C, in a dry location away from direct sunlight and humidity. Avoid storing it in the bathroom or kitchen. Keep it in the original blister packaging and out of reach of children. Malaysia's tropical climate can be warm and humid, so a cool, shaded drawer or a dry cabinet is ideal for storage.

Q10: Can I get a refund or exchange if I ordered the wrong product?
We understand that mistakes can happen. Please contact our customer service team as soon as possible if you believe you have ordered the wrong product. Refunds or exchanges for prescription medicines are subject to our pharmacy's return policy and Malaysian pharmaceutical regulations. Opened or used blister packs may not be eligible for return due to safety and hygiene reasons.

Q11: Is it safe to purchase Yaz Tablet from an online pharmacy rather than a physical pharmacy?
Purchasing from a licensed and regulated online pharmacy in Malaysia is just as safe as buying from a physical pharmacy, provided the platform is properly registered and follows MOH guidelines. Always look for clear licensing information, a valid prescription requirement process, and transparent contact details on the website. Be cautious of websites that sell prescription medicines without asking for a prescription — this is a red flag for illegitimate operations.

Q12: How can I contact your pharmacy if I have questions about my Yaz Tablet order?
You can reach our customer support team through the live chat feature on our website, via email, or by calling our customer helpline during business hours. Our team includes trained pharmacy staff who can assist you with order-related queries, prescription submission guidance, and delivery concerns. We are here to make your experience as smooth and safe as possible.
