How Famotidine Works

Famotidine competitively inhibits histamine at H2-receptors of the gastric parietal cells thereby inhibiting gastric acid secretion.

Alcohol Not Advisable

Generally, alcohol is one of the risk factors for gastric and duodenal ulcer. Hence, it is not advisable for patients to concurrently consume alcohol, even though on Famotidine.

Pregnancy Maybe Safe

Famotidine may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Both animal studies and human studies are inconclusive. More research is needed to explore its side effects. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Lactation Limited Data

Famotidine is excreted into breast milk in small amounts. However, there are inadequate data on its effect in the feeding baby probably safe to use during lactation. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Driving Generally Safe

Famotidine may cause side effects such as dizziness, headaches or tiredness, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care
