Magnesium carbonate is commonly used to treat indigestion, heartburn, dyspepsia and flatulence.

How Magnesium Carbonate Works

Magnesium carbonate is an antacid which works to neutralise gastric hypersecretion. Magnesium carbonate reacts with hydrochloric acid in the stomach to form soluble magnesium chloride and carbon dioxide.

Side Effects of Magnesium Carbonate

Diarrhea, GI Irritation, Hypermagnesemia, Paralytic Ileus, Laxative effect

Driving Generally Safe

Magnesium carbonate cause minimal to no side effects which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Use With Care

Magnesium carbonate should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease due to hypophosphatemia. Dose adjustment of Magnesium carbonate may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it. Use of Magnesium carbonate is not recommended in patients with kidney failure.

Liver Limited Data
