Q: Why do some people feel bloated after consuming cellulose?
A: Water causes cellulose to swell. So, if it stays in our intestines for a long time, we will feel bloated (or full). Chronic constipation patients have limited intestinal motility, which slows down the smooth release of bloated cellulose, creating discomfort over time. It is advised that people with this illness start with minimal doses and gradually increase their probiotic intake to improve digestive motility.
