Overview

Hiruscar Gel for Scar contains MPS (Mucopolysaccharide polysulphate), Allium Cepa (Onion) Extract and Allantoin and is presented as a gel. It is supplied in a pack size of 5g.

It is classified as an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine, so no prescription is needed to order it. Under Malaysian rules for medicine information, this page carries product, safety and handling information only.

You can consult a doctor or pharmacist online on DoctorOnCall about this product before or after you order. Every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is delivered. Always read the label and the leaflet supplied with the pack.

Directions for Use

Cleanse the target area of skin and pat it dry before application. Take a small, pea-sized amount of gel and apply it directly and evenly onto the area, then gently massage in circular motions until fully absorbed. Wash your hands after application unless the hands are the treated area themselves. Apply consistently at similar times each day, and avoid contact with the eyes, lips, and other mucous membranes; rinse thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs. For external use on the skin only.

Dosage

Apply a small, pea-sized amount of gel to the affected area of skin two to three times a day, or more often if directed by a pharmacist based on the extent of the area being treated. Do not exceed the frequency directed on the packaging.

Storage Instructions

Store the tube below 30°C, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat or humidity. Close the cap tightly after each use and keep the product out of the reach and sight of children.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild redness, itching, or a warm or tingling sensation at the site of application.
  • Common: Temporary dryness, tightness, or slight peeling of the treated skin.
  • Serious: Signs of an allergic skin reaction, such as a spreading rash, facial or lip swelling, blistering, or difficulty breathing, which require immediate medical attention.

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity or allergy to Allium cepa (onion) extract, niacinamide, allantoin, aloe vera, vitamin E, or any other ingredient in the formulation.
  • Do not apply to open wounds, actively bleeding skin, or skin with a suspected infection without first seeking medical or pharmacist advice.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant drug or food interactions are known for this topical gel when it is used on the skin as directed.
  • Applying other topical products to the same area at the same time is not recommended without spacing the applications apart, as layering multiple topical products may increase the likelihood of local skin irritation.

Quick Tips

  • Do a patch test on a small area of skin and wait 24 hours before wider use for the first time.
  • Cleanse and dry the skin before each application.
  • Apply only a thin layer of gel; using more than directed will not make it absorb faster.
  • Keep the gel away from the eyes, lips, and other mucous membranes.
  • Apply at consistent times each day to maintain a regular routine.
  • Keep the tube cap tightly closed between uses and store it away from direct heat and sunlight.

Relevant Information

Precautions: Avoid applying Hiruscar Gel for Scar to broken, infected, or sunburnt skin. Limit sun exposure on treated areas where possible, and sunscreen may be used on surrounding skin as part of a general skincare routine. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and parents considering use on children, should check with a doctor or pharmacist before use, as this product has not been specifically studied in these groups.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Stop using the gel and seek medical advice if you develop a spreading rash, significant swelling, blistering, persistent pain, or signs of infection at the application site. If skin irritation continues for more than a few days of regular use, speak with a pharmacist or doctor for further assessment.
