Sterimar Trace Elements Nasal Hygiene Spray is a 100% natural, isotonic seawater nasal spray enriched with trace elements such as zinc, copper and manganese. It is a non-medicated over-the-counter (OTC) nasal hygiene product, not a drug, and is generally considered suitable for use across all age groups, from infants to adults. The spray comes in a 100ml pressurised bottle with a fine-mist nozzle designed for gentle, ready-to-use application without the need for dilution or preparation.

Its salt concentration is isotonic, meaning it is similar to the body’s own nasal secretions, and the formulation is designed for frequent, everyday use. The trace elements present, such as zinc, copper and manganese, occur naturally in seawater and form part of the mineral profile of the solution.

The spray works mechanically rather than through any active drug ingredient. When sprayed into the nostril, the isotonic seawater solution loosens and flushes out mucus, dust, allergens and other irritant particles trapped on the nasal lining, helping the nose’s own natural clearance system (the mucociliary escalator) work more effectively. Because the solution is isotonic, it does not draw fluid into or out of the nasal tissue by osmosis, which is why it is generally gentle and well tolerated for regular use.

The trace elements present in the seawater, such as zinc, copper and manganese, are naturally occurring components of seawater and are included as part of the mineral profile of the solution; they are not intended to act as medicinal ingredients, and the product’s main effect comes from the physical rinsing and moisturising action of the seawater itself.

Before use, gently blow the nose if possible to clear loose mucus. Hold the bottle upright and, ideally with the head tilted slightly forward, insert the nozzle just inside one nostril. Press the pump briefly to release the spray, then hold for a few seconds before removing the nozzle and allowing any excess solution and loosened mucus to drain out or be gently blown away. Repeat the same steps for the other nostril. For children, an adult should hold the bottle and guide the application. After use, wipe the nozzle clean with a tissue and replace the cap to keep it hygienic.

As a non-medicated nasal hygiene spray rather than a drug, Sterimar Trace Elements does not have a fixed pharmacological dose. General usage guidance is one to two sprays into each nostril, two to six times a day, or as often as needed. It can be used daily over the long term, as its isotonic formulation is designed to be gentle enough for frequent use. Store below 25°C, away from direct sunlight and heat, and out of the reach and sight of children. Keep the bottle upright with the cap securely closed between uses, and do not freeze. Do not use the spray if the nozzle appears damaged or if the solution looks discoloured or cloudy.

• Avoid sharing your bottle and nozzle with other family members to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

• Some people choose to use it more often during haze season, long flights, or extended time in air-conditioned rooms.
• Do not force the spray if your child resists; a calmer approach (e.g., while lying down or distracted) often works better.
