Overview

Xepa Thymol Mouth Wash is an oral rinse from Xepa-Soul Pattinson, a long-established Malaysian pharmaceutical and healthcare manufacturer. It contains thymol, an aromatic compound originally derived from thyme that is widely used in mouthwashes for its fresh, distinctive flavour. The mouthwash is intended for use as part of a daily oral hygiene routine to rinse the mouth and help keep breath feeling fresh.

Mouthwash reaches areas of the mouth that a toothbrush may miss, such as between the teeth, along the gumline and at the back of the tongue. Thymol-based rinses have a long history of use in oral care and give a clean, refreshing feel after rinsing or gargling. Please read the label carefully to confirm whether the product should be used as supplied or diluted with water before use, and check the pack for the full ingredient list.

Xepa products are a familiar sight in Malaysian pharmacies, and Xepa Thymol Mouth Wash is a convenient addition to brushing and flossing at home. It can be used in the morning, after meals or before bedtime to freshen the mouth. Mouthwash does not replace brushing and flossing, and regular dental check-ups remain important.

Directions for Use

  • Read the label to check whether the mouthwash should be used as supplied or diluted with water.
  • Measure the recommended amount into a cup, diluting with water if directed on the label.
  • Rinse the mouth thoroughly or gargle for about 30 seconds.
  • Spit out the mouthwash; do not swallow.
  • Avoid eating or drinking for a short while afterwards if the label recommends it.

Storage Instructions

  • Store at room temperature in a cool, dry place.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Close the cap tightly after each use.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Mouthwash is generally well tolerated when used as directed, but some people may experience mild effects.
  • A temporary burning or stinging sensation in the mouth
  • Temporary changes in taste
  • Irritation of the gums, cheeks or tongue in sensitive individuals
  • If irritation persists or you notice mouth sores or swelling, stop use and consult a doctor, dentist or pharmacist.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if you are allergic or sensitive to thymol or any other ingredient listed on the pack.
  • Do not swallow. If a large amount is swallowed, seek medical advice.
  • Not suitable for young children who may not be able to spit out the rinse; check the age guidance on the pack.
  • Seek advice from a doctor or dentist before use if you have mouth ulcers, recent oral surgery or persistent mouth pain.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No known food interactions.
  • If you are using a prescribed mouthwash or other oral treatment, check with your dentist or pharmacist before using another mouthwash at the same time.
  • If the label advises spacing mouthwash use apart from brushing with toothpaste, follow that guidance.

Quick Tips

  • Check the label for dilution instructions before every new bottle.
  • Use a measuring cup rather than guessing the amount.
  • Swish around all areas of the mouth, including between the teeth.
  • Continue brushing twice daily and flossing — mouthwash is an extra step, not a replacement.
  • See a dentist if bad breath persists despite good oral hygiene.

Relevant Information

For oral rinsing only — do not swallow. Keep out of reach of children, and supervise older children if they use mouthwash. Follow the label carefully, especially regarding dilution and how often to use the product.

Persistent bad breath, gum bleeding or mouth pain may need professional assessment, so speak to a dentist or doctor if these continue.
