Overview

The Fitness Recovery Pack is a DoctorOnCall post-workout bundle (pack size: 1s) made up of three items named on the DoctorOnCall pack page: Nutrixlim Protein Shake Can 700g, Livemore Neo-D3 1000IU Tablet and the Medicplast Heat Therapy Patch. It is aimed at fitness enthusiasts, athletes and active adults who want protein to support their training, a daily vitamin D3 supplement, and a simple way to apply warmth to tired or tight muscles. Each item is a separate product with its own label and directions, and each should be used according to that label.

Nutrixlim Protein Shake comes in a 700g can and is intended to be taken after workouts or as a protein-rich snack; protein provides the amino acids the body uses to repair and maintain muscle tissue. Livemore Neo-D3 provides 1000IU (25mcg) of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) per tablet and is taken once daily with a meal. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium and contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal muscle function, and the 1000IU strength sits well below the 4,000IU adult upper limit set by the US National Institutes of Health.

The Medicplast Heat Therapy Patch is a single-use, air-activated heat patch containing iron powder, activated carbon, salt, water and vermiculite. Once the pouch is opened, the ingredients react with oxygen to produce gentle, localised warmth for approximately 8 hours, which can help relax stiff or sore muscles. DoctorOnCall’s pack page does not list the full ingredient and nutrition panel of the protein shake or the number of Neo-D3 tablets and heat patches included, so please check each item’s label in your pack.

Directions for Use

Use each item separately, following its own label:

  • Nutrixlim Protein Shake: consume after workouts or as a protein-rich snack. Prepare it using the scoop size and amount of liquid stated on the can.
  • Livemore Neo-D3 1000IU: take once daily with a meal, swallowing the tablet with water, as directed on the label.
  • Medicplast Heat Therapy Patch: open the sealed pouch immediately before use. Peel off the protective backing and apply the adhesive side to clean, dry, unbroken skin, or onto a single thin layer of clothing, over the sore or strained area. Remove it if the skin becomes uncomfortably hot, red or irritated, and do not wear it while sleeping.

Dosage

  • Nutrixlim Protein Shake: follow the serving size and number of servings per day stated on the can. Do not exceed the recommended daily servings.
  • Livemore Neo-D3 1000IU: once daily with a meal, following the number of tablets stated on the label. Do not exceed the recommended dose, and count vitamin D from other supplements towards the adult upper limit of 4,000IU per day.
  • Medicplast Heat Therapy Patch: one patch per affected area as needed; each patch provides warmth for about 8 hours and is for single use only.
  • This pack is intended for adults. Do not use the heat patch on infants or young children.

Shelf Life

Each item in the pack has its own expiry date. Refer to the expiry date printed on the packaging of each product and do not use any item after that date. Once the protein shake can is opened, close it tightly after each use and follow any use-by guidance on the label.

Storage Instructions

  • Nutrixlim Protein Shake: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight with the lid tightly closed, unless the label states otherwise.
  • Livemore Neo-D3 1000IU: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, unless the label states otherwise.
  • Medicplast Heat Therapy Patch: keep unopened patches in their original sealed pouch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; open only immediately before use.
  • Keep all products out of the reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Common (Protein Shake): bloating, wind or mild digestive upset, particularly if more than the recommended amount is taken.
  • Common (Heat Therapy Patch): mild redness, warmth or tingling of the skin under the patch.
  • Common (Neo-D3): vitamin D3 at 1000IU daily is generally well tolerated when taken as directed.
  • Serious (Neo-D3, excessive intake): taking too much vitamin D over time can raise blood calcium, causing nausea, vomiting, muscle weakness, confusion, loss of appetite, excessive thirst and urination, or kidney stones. Stop and seek medical advice.
  • Serious (Heat Therapy Patch): skin burns or blistering if the patch is worn too long, applied too tightly, or used on skin with reduced sensation. Remove it immediately and seek medical advice.
  • Serious (any item): allergic reactions such as rash, hives, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing (for example, to an ingredient in the shake or to the patch adhesive). Seek emergency care.

Contraindications

  • Protein Shake: do not take if you are allergic to any ingredient listed on the can; check the allergen statement before use.
  • Neo-D3: do not take if you are allergic to vitamin D3 or any ingredient of the tablet, or if you have high blood calcium levels, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • Heat Therapy Patch: do not use if you have reduced skin sensation, such as diabetes-related nerve damage, as unnoticed burns may occur.
  • Heat Therapy Patch: do not apply over broken, irritated or recently injured skin, or if you are allergic to adhesives.
  • Heat Therapy Patch: do not use on infants or young children, or on anyone unable to remove the patch on their own.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Neo-D3 with orlistat: orlistat reduces the absorption of vitamin D from food and supplements.
  • Neo-D3 with steroid medicines: corticosteroids such as prednisone can lower vitamin D levels; speak to your doctor about your vitamin D needs.
  • Neo-D3 with thiazide diuretics: combining vitamin D supplements with thiazide diuretics may raise blood calcium too much; check with your doctor first.
  • Neo-D3 with statins: high-dose vitamin D supplements may reduce the effect of some statins; tell your doctor if you take a cholesterol-lowering medicine.
  • Duplicate supplementation: protein shakes and multivitamins may also contain added vitamin D, so check all labels to avoid exceeding 4,000IU of vitamin D per day.
  • Heat Therapy Patch: do not use together with heating pads, warming rubs or medicated patches on the same area, as this increases the risk of skin irritation or burns.

Quick Tips

  • Have the protein shake within the hours after training, or use it as a snack on busy days rather than as a replacement for all meals.
  • Take Neo-D3 with your main meal of the day, as vitamin D is absorbed better with some dietary fat.
  • Open the heat patch only when you are ready to use it, and never wear it while sleeping.
  • Check your skin regularly under the heat patch and remove it if it feels too hot.
  • Check the protein shake label for allergens and for added vitamins so you do not double up on vitamin D.
  • See a doctor or physiotherapist for pain that is severe, follows a fall or injury, or does not improve within a few days.

Relevant Information

Precautions: This pack contains two nutritional products and a single-use heat patch, so use each according to its own label. The pack is generally intended for adults; people with medical conditions, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and anyone taking regular medicines should consult a healthcare professional before use. People with kidney disease or who have been advised to limit protein should check with their doctor before using a protein shake. Do not exceed the recommended vitamin D intake, and count vitamin D from all supplements. The heat patch can cause burns if worn too long, while sleeping, under tight clothing or bandages, or on skin with reduced sensation, such as in people with diabetes-related nerve damage or poor circulation.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Seek medical advice if you develop signs of too much vitamin D, such as persistent nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, frequent urination, confusion or muscle weakness. Remove the heat patch and seek medical advice if you notice blistering, burns or persistent redness. See a doctor or physiotherapist if muscle or joint pain is severe, follows an injury, is accompanied by swelling, numbness or weakness, or does not improve within a few days. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have kidney disease, high blood calcium or diabetes, or take medicines such as diuretics, steroids, statins or orlistat.
