VK Dermsolve 100% Originality Pure Petroleum Jelly is a petroleum jelly from the VK Dermsolve personal care range. Petroleum jelly, also known as petrolatum, is a smooth, semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons that has been used in skin care for generations. It works as an occlusive, forming a thin protective layer on the skin’s surface that helps reduce moisture loss. This makes it a versatile staple for dry areas such as the lips, elbows, knees, heels and hands.

Even in Malaysia’s humid climate, long hours in air-conditioned offices, frequent handwashing and sun exposure can leave skin feeling dry and rough. A thin layer of petroleum jelly applied after bathing helps seal in the moisture already in the skin. Many people also use it on chapped lips, dry cuticles and rough heels, often overnight under cotton socks or gloves. Because it is thick, only a small amount is needed each time.

Petroleum jelly is not absorbed like a lotion, so it can feel greasy if too much is applied; a thin layer is usually enough. It suits most skin types, but people prone to clogged pores may prefer not to apply it heavily on the face. Petroleum-based products should be kept away from open flames and should not be used near home oxygen equipment. Check the packaging for the manufacturer’s directions before use.

• Cleanse the skin and gently pat dry, leaving it slightly damp if possible.
• Scoop a small amount with clean fingers or a spatula.
• Apply a thin layer to dry areas such as lips, elbows, knees, heels or hands.
• For very dry heels or hands, apply at night and cover with cotton socks or gloves.
• Close the lid tightly after use.

Refer to the expiry date printed on the pack. Once opened, use within the period shown on the period-after-opening (open jar) symbol on the packaging, if present. Use a clean spatula to avoid contamination and discard if the colour or smell changes.
