Wegovy FlexTouch 0.5mg/0.5mL is a prescription injectable medicine containing semaglutide, a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist manufactured by Novo Nordisk, supplied in a single-use pre-filled pen. Unlike Ozempic, which contains the same active ingredient but is registered for type 2 diabetes, Wegovy is specifically indicated for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or who are overweight with at least one weight-related medical condition, when used together with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

The 0.5mg/0.5mL FlexTouch pen represents one step in a gradual, doctor-supervised dose-titration schedule that begins at a low dose and increases every four weeks to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Wegovy is intended for long-term use as part of an overall weight-management programme that includes lifestyle changes, and it should only be started, titrated, or stopped under medical supervision.

Semaglutide mimics the naturally occurring hormone GLP-1, activating GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas, gut, and brain. This increases insulin release when blood glucose is elevated, reduces glucagon secretion, slows the rate at which the stomach empties, and acts on appetite-regulating centres in the brain to reduce hunger and increase feelings of fullness, resulting in reduced food intake and, over time, weight loss.

Wegovy FlexTouch is injected subcutaneously (under the skin) into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, with the injection site rotated at each dose. Use this product before the expiry date stated on the packaging. Do not use the medicine if the expiry date has passed.

Store unused Wegovy FlexTouch pens in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C); do not freeze, and discard the pen if it has been frozen. Once in use, a pen may be kept below 30°C or refrigerated for up to 6 weeks, with the cap on, away from direct light and heat, and out of reach of children.

• Delayed gastric emptying may affect the absorption of oral medicines, including oral contraceptives, taken around the same time
• Alcohol may worsen gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea and should be limited during treatment
• Always inform your doctor of all prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, and supplements you are taking before starting Wegovy

• Inject on the same day each week to build a consistent routine
• Rotate injection sites between the abdomen, thigh, and upper arm
• Eat smaller, slower meals and avoid high-fat foods in the first few weeks to help reduce nausea
• Seek medical attention promptly for severe or persistent abdominal pain, as this can occasionally indicate pancreatitis
