Yong Lai Mee is an experienced Senior Diabetes Educator who has more than 15 years experience in diabetes education and nursing education. She received the International Golden Key Honour Club membership recommended by Monash University. She is a certified HRD Corporation Trainer. Since 2018, she provides diabetes education to all ages of people with diabetes that include Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, MODY, LADA, Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM), and other types of diabetes. She has vast experience in initiating Insulin {ump and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system. She is one of the authors of MDES Diabetes Education Manual and FITMY Injection Technique. She is active in organising diabetes conferences and conduct diabetes clinical improvement projects. She lead the Hypoglcyaemia Prevention and Pen Needle Safety Projects in SJMC. Both of the projects won the 1st Prize in the Association of Private Hospital of Malaysia (APHM) Conference 2023 and 2024 consecutively. Currently she serves as the Malaysian Diabetes Educators Society President. She actively conduct clinical quality improvement projects. Notably, she was the Chief Author for hypoglycaemia prevention in the adults and safer insulin delivery system projects in Subang Jaya Medical Centre. Both of these projects reecived prestigious recognitions: won 1st Prize in the Association of the Private Hospital of Malaysia (APHM) Conference and Exhibition 2023 & 2024 consecutively and awarded the Best Poster in the Diabetes Asia Conference 2023. Being an educator, she published several diabetes related articles to educate the public in the healthcare magazines such as NADI Healthcare Magazine, InfoMed Healthcare Magazine and online ForYourSweetHeart. She is one of the diabetes education guidelne authors who developed the MDES Diabetes Education Manual 2024 and FITMY Injection Technique Guidelines 2017. She actively serves the community by organising National and International Diabetes Conferences. She is an invited speaker for several national conferences. She was the Organising Chairperson of SJMC Run since 2014 and SJMC half marathon Run in 2017 and 2019.
