Uses of Oxytetracycline

Oxytetracycline is commonly used to treat respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, skin and ophthalmic infections. it can also be used for treating leptospirosis, gas-gangrene and tetanus.

How Oxytetracycline Works

Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic with activity against various gram positive and gram negative bacteria by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding of 30S and possibly 50S ribosomal subunits.

Side Effects of Oxytetracycline

Anorexia, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Glossitis, Dysphagia, Photosensitivity, Esophageal irritation and ulceration, Headache, Visual disturbances, Intracranial hypertension

Alcohol Safe

Consuming alcohol in moderation with Osimertinib does not seem to affect the pharmacodynamics of Oxytetracycline. However, please consult your doctor before using it.

Pregnancy Limited Data

Oxytetracycline may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Oxytetracycline can cross the placenta and can cause adverse effects on the fetus. However, the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Lactation Limited Data

Oxytetracycline excretion into breast milk and its potential adverse effect on the feeding baby is largely unknown. Please consult your doctor before using it.

Driving Generally Safe

Oxytetracycline cause minimal to no side effects which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney High Risk

Oxytetracycline should be not be used in patients with kidney disease unless it is absolutely necessary and only upon consulting your doctor.

Liver Limited Data

Oxytetracycline should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Oxytetracycline may be needed. Please consult your doctor before using it.
