Introduction of Micardis 80mg Tablet

Micardis 80mg Tablet. can be used either independently or in together with other medication. It can be taken during the day or at night with or without eating. Try to take it daily at the fixed time, to get the optimal benefits. Even though you feel better, it is vital to keep taking it daily. Most people with elevated blood pressure do not show any signs.

To help regulate blood pressure include changes like physical exercise, weight loss, cessation of smoking, reduction in alcohol consumption, and reduction of salt in your diet, as your doctor has recommended.

Let your doctor know if you have any kidney or liver complications before taking this medication. Before taking it, pregnant or breastfeeding mothers must check with the doctor. Your doctor can monitor your kidney function, blood pressure, and levels of potassium in your blood at periodically when you are taking this medication.

Precautionary Steps of Micardis 80mg Tablet

Please consult a doctor especially before taking Micardis tab 80 mg. If you have any of the following conditions & contraindications:-
  • Hypersensitivity to telmisartan
  • Biliary obstructive disorders
  • Concomitant use with aliskiren in patients with DM or renal impairment 
  • Severe hepatic impairment
  • 2nd & 3rd trimesters of pregnancy
  • Lactation

Micardis tab 80 mg Drug Interactions

Drug to drug interaction reaction of Micardis tab 80 mg varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.
  • Potassium sparing diuretics
  • Potassium supplements and salt substitutes containing potassium
  • Digoxin
  • Lithium
  • NSAIDs 
  • ACE inhibitors 
  • Direct renin-inhibitor aliskiren

Alcohol Warning( Not Advisable )
Avoid drinking alcohol. It can further lower your blood pressure and may exaggerate some of the side effects of Micardis 80mg Tablet.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)
The use of Micardis 80mg Tablet is not recommended in the first trimester and it is not allowed during the second and third trimester. It is proved that Micardis 80mg Tablet will exert toxic effects on the human foetus during the second and third trimester.

Breastfeeding Warning ( Limited Data )
There is no information available regarding the use of Micardis 80mg Tablet during breast-feeding, therefore, it is not recommended. Alternative treatments with better-established safety profiles during breast-feeding are preferable.

Driving Warning ( Not Advisable )
Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Micardis 80mg Tablet may cause side effects such as dizziness or drowsiness, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney Warning ( Safe If Prescribed )
Micardis 80mg Tablet effectively and safely reduces blood pressure and brought about the regression of proteinuria in diabetic and non-diabetic, hypertensive, proteinuric patients with chronic kidney disease, even in those with mild-to-moderate chronic renal failure.

Liver Warning ( Limited Data )
Occasional elevations of liver chemistries occurred in patients treated with Micardis 80mg Tablet. Dose adjustment may be required in patients with mild to moderate liver impairment. It is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Many side effects require minimal medical assistance and fades as the body responds to the medicine. Speak to the doctor if they continue or if you are particularly worried.

This medication works well with most patients because it has little adverse effects. But, in some people, it can induce upper respiratory tract infection, back pain, sinus infection, and diarrhea. If you have any of these side effects, let the doctor know.

Hypotension, Orthostatic hypotension, Hyperkalaemia, Bradycardia, Chest pain, Tachycardia, Palpitation, Difficulty in breathing, Hypertension, Peripheral oedema, Intermittent claudication, Increased serum creatinine, Tinnitus, Vertigo.

  • Take it daily at the same time to remind you to continue medication intake. 
  • For the first few days, it will make you feel dizzy.
  • If you have been seated or lying down for a long time, get up slowly. 
  • Your doctor may have routine testing conducted to check your blood levels of urea, creatinine, and potassium. 
  • Without seeing the doctor, do not take anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen together with the Micardis 80mg tablet.
  • It can increase blood potassium levels. Limit any supplements of potassium and diets high in potassium, such as bananas, coconut water, and broccoli.

If you miss a dose of Micardis 80mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

1. What should I do when I missed a dose of Micardis tab 80 mg?

If you have missed a dose by chance, try to consume it as soon as possible when you notice. If the time to your next dosage is close, simply skip the medicine. In such cases, try to not double the dosage.
