Aftamed Oral Spray

Aftamed Oral Spray is an over-the-counter (OTC) oral care spray supplied in a 20ml pump-spray bottle for topical application inside the mouth. Its principal ingredient is high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, supplied as sodium hyaluronate, a naturally occurring polysaccharide widely used in topical healthcare formulations for its ability to form a smooth, adherent film over moist tissue surfaces.

The spray is formulated with purified water and xylitol, a sugar alcohol commonly used in oral care products, together with a preservative system to keep the product stable and hygienic throughout its shelf life. Each actuation delivers a fine, even mist, and the clear, low-viscosity liquid has a mild, neutral taste from the xylitol content.

Aftamed Oral Spray is part of a wider Aftamed product range that also includes Aftamed Junior Oral Gel, a separate gel-format product in a different pack size and application format intended for younger users. The two products are packaged, dosed, and applied differently and should not be treated as interchangeable. Aftamed Oral Spray is sold in Malaysia as a single 20ml pack through registered pharmacies and online pharmacy platforms.

• Shake the bottle gently before use.
• Remove the protective cap from the spray nozzle.
• Aim the nozzle at the affected area of the oral mucosa and press the pump to release one spray.
• Allow the sprayed area to remain in contact with the liquid for a few seconds before swallowing or rinsing.
• Avoid eating or drinking immediately after application so the film has time to settle on the mucosa.
• Replace the cap tightly after each use to keep the nozzle clean and hygienic.

Aftamed Oral Spray is applied directly to the affected area of the oral mucosa, typically up to three to four times a day or as directed on the product packaging or by a pharmacist. There is no swallowed “dose” in the conventional sense, as the spray is intended for local application rather than systemic absorption. Do not exceed the frequency stated on the packaging without first checking with a pharmacist.

Use Aftamed Oral Spray before the expiry date printed on the bottle and outer carton. Once opened, use within the in-use period stated on the packaging, and do not use the product beyond the printed expiry date under any circumstances.

Store Aftamed Oral Spray at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat or humidity. Keep the cap tightly closed between uses, and keep the bottle out of the reach and sight of children.

• Common: A mild, transient stinging or tingling sensation at the site of application immediately after spraying.
• Common: A temporary change in taste perception, related to the xylitol content.
• Serious: Signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing, which require immediate medical attention.

• Known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, xylitol, or any other ingredient listed on the Aftamed Oral Spray packaging.
• Not intended for application to broken skin outside the oral cavity or to deep, penetrating wounds.

• No clinically significant drug interactions have been established for topically applied hyaluronic acid oral sprays, as the product acts locally rather than being absorbed systemically in meaningful amounts.
• No specific food interactions are known; eating or drinking immediately after application may reduce the time the product remains in contact with the oral mucosa.
• If using Aftamed Oral Spray alongside other oral medications or mouth rinses, space the applications apart where practical and check with a pharmacist if unsure.

• Apply after meals and after your usual oral hygiene routine so the spray is not immediately rinsed away.
• Pause eating or drinking for a short period after spraying to let the film settle on the mucosa.
• Keep the nozzle clean and recap the bottle tightly after every use.

• Keep the bottle out of reach of young children, as it is intended for supervised or adult use.

Precautions: Aftamed Oral Spray is intended for topical use inside the mouth only. Avoid spraying directly into the eyes. Pregnant or breastfeeding women, and individuals with known sensitivities to any of the listed ingredients, should check with a pharmacist before use.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if irritation worsens after use, if symptoms do not settle within a reasonable period, or if signs of an allergic reaction appear.
