Overview

Allergan Optive Fusion Eye Drop is eye drops with Carmellose Sodium, Glycerin and Purified Water declared as its active content. It is supplied in a pack size of 10ml.

This is an over-the-counter (OTC) product and can be purchased without a prescription. Only product, safety and handling details are published on this page.

An online consultation with a DoctorOnCall doctor or pharmacist is available for this product, and a registered pharmacist reviews each order before dispatch to Malaysia or Singapore. Follow the directions on the label and on the leaflet inside the pack.

Directions for Use

Wash your hands thoroughly before use. Tilt the head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket, and instil 1 to 2 drops without letting the dropper tip touch the eye, eyelashes, or any surface. Blink gently to spread the solution. If wearing contact lenses, remove them before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting, unless advised otherwise. Close the cap tightly immediately after use.

Dosage

The typical dosing, as directed on the product packaging, is 1 to 2 drops instilled into the affected eye(s) as needed, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. There is no separate paediatric dose established; use in children should be discussed with a pharmacist first.

Shelf Life

Use before the expiry date printed on the carton and bottle. As with other preserved multi-dose ophthalmic bottles, confirm the exact “discard after opening” period stated on the package insert or with your pharmacist, since this is not consistently published across all regional listings.

Storage Instructions

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild, transient stinging, a temporary foreign-body sensation, or brief blurred vision immediately after instillation.
  • Common: Slight ocular stickiness.
  • Serious: Signs of an allergic reaction such as marked eyelid swelling, itching, or rash, requiring the product to be stopped and medical advice sought.
  • Serious: Persistent eye pain, worsening redness, or vision changes, which should be assessed promptly by a doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to carboxymethylcellulose, sodium hyaluronate, or any other ingredient in Optive Fusion.
  • Use on an eye with a penetrating injury, active infection, or following recent intraocular surgery, unless specifically directed by a doctor.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant drug or food interactions are known for this topical eye product.
  • If more than one type of eye drop is being used, space the different products at least 5 to 10 minutes apart.

Quick Tips

  • Wash your hands before every instillation to reduce contamination risk.
  • Never let the dropper tip touch the eye, eyelid, fingers, or any surface.
  • Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting, unless advised otherwise.
  • Keep the bottle tightly closed between uses, away from direct sunlight.
  • Note the date of first opening and confirm the discard period against the package insert or with your pharmacist.
  • Check with a pharmacist if irritation persists beyond a few days of use.

Relevant Information

Precautions: Remove contact lenses before instilling Optive Fusion and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting, unless advised otherwise. Use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, young children, and the elderly should be discussed with a pharmacist or doctor first. Discontinue use if irritation worsens.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Seek prompt advice if there is eye pain, light sensitivity, discharge, worsening redness, vision changes, or if symptoms persist beyond a few days of regular use.
