Overview

Bao Fu Ling Compound Skin Treasure Cream is a herbal-based topical cream intended for external use on the skin. According to the product information available, the formulation combines traditional Chinese medicinal herbs with glycerin, allantoin, menthol and pearl powder in a white to off-white cream base. It is offered as an over-the-counter product through DoctorOnCall and is commonly supplied in tubes; please check the product page for the pack sizes currently listed.

Traditional herbal topical creams are formulated differently from single-ingredient products, so the specific herbs and their amounts are decided by the manufacturer and may not be fully itemised on every pack or retailer page. Glycerin is a humectant ingredient commonly found in skin creams, allantoin is a skin-conditioning ingredient, and menthol gives a cool sensation when it is applied to the skin. For this reason, customers with sensitive skin, or with known allergies to herbs, menthol or fragrance, should read the full ingredient declaration on the carton before applying the cream.

As with any topical product, the cream is intended for the skin surface only and should be kept away from the eyes, the inside of the mouth and nose, and deep or heavily infected wounds. Our pharmacist team can advise whether this cream is suitable alongside other skin products or medicines you already use. Please keep the tube tightly closed after every use and follow the directions printed on the pack.

Directions for Use

Wash your hands, then gently clean and dry the area of skin before application.

Squeeze out a small amount of cream and apply a thin layer to the area, spreading it gently without rubbing hard.

Wash your hands after application, unless your hands are the area being covered.

Do not cover the area with an airtight dressing or bandage unless a doctor or pharmacist has advised it.

For external use only. Do not swallow. Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, the inside of the nose or mouth and other mucous membranes; if contact happens, rinse well with plenty of clean water.

Follow the directions printed on the pack, and ask our pharmacist team if you are unsure how to use the cream.

Dosage

Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area about 2 to 3 times a day, or as directed on the product label or by your doctor or pharmacist. Do not apply more often than directed; a thicker layer or more frequent use does not make the cream stronger and may increase the chance of skin irritation.

If you miss an application, simply apply it at the next scheduled time and do not double up. Stop using the cream and speak to a doctor or pharmacist if your skin has not improved after about 7 days of regular use, or if it gets worse at any point.

Shelf Life

Use before the expiry date printed on the tube or carton. If the colour, smell or texture of the cream changes noticeably, stop using it and replace it with a new tube.

Storage Instructions

Store at room temperature, below 30 °C unless the pack states otherwise, in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the cap tightly closed after each use and keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Common: A brief stinging, tingling, warm or cooling sensation at the application site, which can be linked to menthol.
  • Common: Mild redness, dryness or itching of the skin where the cream was applied.
  • Serious: Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, widespread rash or hives, or difficulty breathing. These are signs of a severe allergic reaction; stop using the cream and get emergency care.
  • Serious: Blistering, oozing, severe burning pain or spreading redness. Stop using the cream and see a doctor, as these may point to a skin allergy or infection.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredient in the cream, including menthol, allantoin, pearl powder or any of the herbal ingredients.
  • Do not apply to the eyes, lips, inside of the nose or mouth, or other mucous membranes.
  • Do not apply to deep or puncture wounds, large raw areas or severe burns.
  • Do not apply to skin showing signs of infection, such as pus, increasing warmth or swelling, without medical advice.
  • Do not use on very young infants unless a doctor has advised it.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No well-documented interactions are known for external use at the recommended amounts, but data on herbal combination creams is limited.
  • If you use other medicated skin products on the same area, such as steroid creams, antifungal creams or antibiotic ointments, ask a pharmacist before layering them with this cream.
  • Avoid applying other products containing menthol or camphor to the same area at the same time, as this can increase skin irritation.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any herbal or traditional remedies you take regularly. No food interactions are known.

Quick Tips

  • Do a small patch test on the inner forearm and wait 24 hours before first use, especially if you have sensitive skin or allergies.
  • Apply only a thin layer; more cream does not mean a stronger effect.
  • Wash your hands before and after application to avoid spreading the cream to your eyes.
  • Close the tube tightly after each use and avoid touching the tube opening to the skin.
  • Write the date you first opened the tube on the carton so you can keep track of its freshness.
  • Stop using the cream immediately if you notice rash, swelling, blistering or worsening redness.
