Overview

Borymycin 100mg Capsule is a prescription-only medicine (POM) that contains Minocycline 100mg (as minocycline hydrochloride). It is supplied as a capsule and is dispensed in Malaysia only against a valid prescription issued by a registered doctor.

Under Malaysian rules for prescription medicines, this page carries product, safety and handling information only. Your doctor or pharmacist will explain whether this medicine is suitable for you, the dose you should take, and how long you should take it.

On DoctorOnCall, Borymycin 100mg Capsule is reviewed by a licensed doctor through an online consultation and dispensed by a registered pharmacist before delivery. Always follow the instructions on your prescription label and the package insert supplied with the product, and do not share this medicine with anyone else.

Directions for Use

Take Borymycin 100mg Capsule with a full glass of water, and remain upright (sitting or standing) for at least 30 minutes afterwards to reduce the risk of throat or oesophageal irritation. Avoid taking it together with dairy products, antacids, or iron or calcium supplements, as these can bind to minocycline and reduce its absorption – space these at least 2 hours apart.

Dosage

The usual dose of Borymycin 100mg Capsule depends on the condition being treated; for acne, a common regimen is 100mg once or twice daily, while infection courses vary in dose and duration according to the organism and site involved. Your doctor will individualise the dose and length of treatment, and it is important to complete the full course even if symptoms improve early.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Headache
  • Discoloration of teeth (especially with long-term use)

Contraindications

  • Children under 8 years of age (risk of permanent tooth staining)
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (tetracyclines may worsen the condition)
  • Severe kidney impairment (requires dose adjustment or avoidance)

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Dairy products, antacids, and calcium, iron, magnesium, or zinc supplements reduce minocycline absorption
  • Oral contraceptives may become less reliable – use additional contraceptive precautions during treatment
