Overview

Candid 1% Topical Dusting Powder is a topical antifungal powder manufactured by Glenmark, containing clotrimazole 1% w/w, an imidazole-class antifungal formulated as a fine powder for application to the skin. It is sold in Malaysia as an OTC (Over-the-Counter) product, available without needing a doctor’s prescription at retail and online pharmacies including DoctorOnCall.

Candid 1% Topical Dusting Powder is part of the same Candid clotrimazole range as Candid Cream and Candid 1% Lotion, but in a powder base rather than a cream or liquid; a powder format is generally chosen over the cream or lotion for larger skin folds, areas prone to sweating, or where powder can be dusted inside footwear or clothing, while the cream and lotion are typically preferred for more localised or drier areas of skin. Candid 1% Topical Dusting Powder is a distinct product from Canesten-brand clotrimazole products, which come from a different manufacturer, and from Canesten V Cream, which is formulated for vaginal use.

Candid 1% Topical Dusting Powder is sold in Malaysia in a 30g container with a shaker-top applicator; check the product packaging or listing to confirm the exact pack size supplied.

Directions for Use

  • Clean and thoroughly dry the affected area of skin before applying.
  • Shake a light, even layer of powder over the affected area and the surrounding skin.
  • Also dust a small amount inside footwear, socks, or clothing that repeatedly contacts the area, if directed on the pack.
  • Apply as directed on the pack label or by a pharmacist, usually once or twice a day, for the full course length stated.
  • Avoid inhaling the powder while applying; apply in a well-ventilated area and away from the face.

Dosage

For adults and children, apply the powder to the affected area of skin once or twice a day, or as directed by a pharmacist, for the course length stated on the pack label. If there is no improvement after two to four weeks of regular use, or if the condition worsens, stop self-treating and see a doctor or pharmacist.

Side Effects

  • Mild skin irritation
  • Redness or itching at the application site
  • Burning or stinging sensation
  • Peeling or blistering of the skin
  • Unusual vaginal discharge (with vaginal formulations)

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to clotrimazole, other imidazole antifungals, or any excipient in this formulation.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant drug interactions have been identified for topical clotrimazole powder, as it acts locally on the skin with minimal systemic absorption.
  • No food interactions are relevant, as this is a topical product and is not taken by mouth.
  • Avoid applying other medicated creams, powders, or lotions to the same area at the same time without checking with a pharmacist first.

Quick Tips

  • Apply after washing and thoroughly drying the skin, since moisture can affect how well the powder adheres.
  • Shake the container gently before use to loosen the powder.
  • Change socks or underwear daily during the treatment course, especially if powder is dusted inside them.
  • Keep the container closed between uses to keep the powder dry.
  • Store at room temperature, away from direct heat, sunlight, and moisture.
  • Check the expiry date on the packaging before each use.

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Active ingredient: Clotrimazole 1% w/w.
  • An imidazole-class topical antifungal formulated as a fine dusting powder for application to the skin.
  • Manufactured by Glenmark; supplied in a 30g shaker-top container.
  • The full list of inactive/excipient ingredients (including the powder base/carrier) is not publicly disclosed by the manufacturer; refer to the printed package insert for complete details.
