Overview

Cerumol Ear Drops contains materials and components and is presented as ear drops. It is supplied in a pack size of 10ml.

It is classified as an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine, so no prescription is needed to order it. Under Malaysian rules for medicine information, this page carries product, safety and handling information only.

You can consult a doctor or pharmacist online on DoctorOnCall about this product before or after you order. Every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is delivered. Always read the label and the leaflet supplied with the pack.

Directions for Use

Tilt the head to one side so the affected ear faces upward. Draw up the stated number of drops using the dropper and instil them into the ear canal. Keep the head tilted, or loosely place a small plug of cotton wool at the ear opening, for a few minutes so the oil stays in contact with the wax. Repeat in the other ear if needed. Use twice daily for up to three days, then have the ear examined or professionally cleaned if wax remains afterwards.

Dosage

Adults and children: instil the number of drops stated on the product label (commonly around five drops) into the affected ear canal, twice daily, for up to three consecutive days, or as directed by a pharmacist or doctor.

Shelf Life

Refer to the expiry date printed on the bottle and outer carton. Do not use this product beyond the stated expiry date.

Storage Instructions

Store at room temperature, below 25°C, away from direct sunlight, with the cap tightly closed after each use. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Side Effects

  • Common: mild stinging or a warm sensation in the ear canal immediately after application.
  • Common: temporary reduction in hearing while the oil remains in the ear canal.
  • Serious: allergic reaction (itching, redness, or swelling of the ear canal or outer ear) in someone sensitised to peanut oil or another ingredient — stop use and seek medical advice.
  • Serious: worsening ear pain, discharge, or bleeding, which may indicate the eardrum has been affected — stop use and see a doctor promptly.

Contraindications

  • Known or suspected perforated eardrum (tympanic membrane perforation).
  • Known allergy or hypersensitivity to peanuts, peanut oil (arachis oil), soya, or any other ingredient in the formulation.
  • Active ear infection, ear discharge, or unexplained ear pain that has not been assessed by a doctor.
  • Ear with grommets or ventilation tubes in place, unless a doctor has advised otherwise.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant drug or food interactions are known for this topical ear product, as it acts locally within the ear canal and is not intended to be swallowed or absorbed systemically.
  • Because the base contains peanut (arachis) oil, anyone with a peanut or tree-nut allergy should avoid this product entirely rather than relying on interaction data.
  • Avoid using another ear preparation in the same ear at the same time unless a pharmacist or doctor has advised combined use.

Quick Tips

  • Warm the bottle briefly between your hands before use so the oil feels more comfortable in the ear.
  • Lie down or tilt your head sideways for a few minutes after applying the drops so the oil stays in contact with the wax.
  • Use a fresh piece of cotton wool for each application if you choose to plug the ear opening afterward.
  • Avoid inserting cotton buds or other objects into the ear canal.
  • Keep the dropper tip from touching the ear or any surface, to avoid contaminating the remaining solution.
  • Wipe away any oil that runs onto the outer ear with a clean tissue.

How long will delivery take?

Within Malaysia, standard delivery takes 3 to 5 working days. Same-day delivery is available in the Klang Valley for orders placed before 12pm; orders placed after 12pm arrive by the end of the next day.

Orders to Singapore are sent as international deliveries and take 5 to 9 working days. A lump-sum shipping and handling fee applies to every overseas delivery and is shown at checkout.

What payment methods can I use?

Customers in Malaysia can pay by FPX online banking, credit or debit card (Visa and Mastercard), and supported e-wallets including Touch ‘n Go eWallet, GrabPay and ShopeePay.

FPX and local e-wallets are tied to Malaysian bank and wallet accounts, so if your delivery address is in Singapore, use the payment options displayed at checkout for that address rather than assuming the same list applies.

Can Cerumol Ear Drops be delivered to Singapore?

Yes. DoctorOnCall ships to Singapore as an international order dispatched from Malaysia, arriving in 5 to 9 working days with a lump-sum shipping and handling fee.

Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) allows personal imports of up to three months’ supply of a medicine for your own use or an immediate family member’s, as long as it contains no controlled drugs, psychotropic substances or prohibited items. Keep the product in its original labelled packaging and keep a copy of your prescription or doctor’s letter with it. Quantities above three months’ supply, and medicines containing controlled substances, require prior HSA approval.

Is Cerumol Ear Drops registered with the authorities?

Products listed on DoctorOnCall are registered with Malaysia’s Ministry of Health for supply in Malaysia, and each pack carries its MAL registration number.

An order delivered to Singapore arrives as a personal import of a Malaysia-registered product; HSA product registration is not required for personal-use quantities, but it is also not the same as a product registered for sale in Singapore. If you need a locally registered Singapore product, buy it from a pharmacy in Singapore.

Who do I contact if there is a problem with my order?

DoctorOnCall’s customer care team handles order, delivery and product queries through the contact channels on the site, including WhatsApp and the online help centre.

For deliveries to Singapore, allow more time before chasing an order than you would for a local Malaysian delivery, as the parcel passes through customs clearance and tracking updates can appear later in the journey.

Relevant Information

Precautions: Cerumol contains arachis (peanut) oil; people with a peanut or soya allergy should not use this product. It is intended for use in the outer ear canal only and should not come into contact with the eyes. Use with care in young children, following the age guidance and dosing stated on the product label. If wax remains after the recommended course of drops, further wax removal should be carried out by a healthcare professional rather than by repeated self-treatment.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if there is any possibility of a perforated eardrum, if the ear is painful, discharging, or has recently been operated on, or if hearing loss is sudden or severe. Stop using the drops and seek medical advice if irritation, allergic symptoms, or worsening symptoms develop during use, or if wax build-up does not improve after the recommended course.
