Overview

Condropil Capsule is a joint care dietary supplement in capsule form, supplied in a pack of 60 capsules. It combines four ingredients commonly used in joint supplements: glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin sulfate, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) and sodium hyaluronate. The exact amount of each ingredient per capsule is stated on the product label, so please refer to the packaging for the full composition and serving information.

Glucosamine and chondroitin are compounds that occur naturally in the body and are building blocks of cartilage, the connective tissue that cushions the ends of bones within joints. MSM is an organic sulfur-containing compound, and sodium hyaluronate is the salt form of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in joint (synovial) fluid. Research on these ingredients as supplements has produced mixed results, and individual responses vary.

Condropil Capsule may be used as part of a joint care routine alongside a balanced diet, healthy body weight and regular, appropriate physical activity. It is not a substitute for medical assessment or for medicines prescribed by your doctor. Because glucosamine and chondroitin can interact with certain medicines such as warfarin, and glucosamine may be derived from shellfish, speak with a doctor or pharmacist before starting if you have allergies, diabetes or take other medicines.

Directions for Use

Take one capsule with a glass of water after breakfast and another capsule after dinner, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Swallow the capsule whole with water. Taking it after meals may help reduce stomach discomfort. Always read and follow the directions on the product label.

Dosage

Adults: 1 capsule twice daily, preferably after meals, or as directed by a healthcare professional.

Do not exceed the recommended daily intake stated on the label. If you are already taking another product containing glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM or hyaluronic acid, check the combined amount with a pharmacist to avoid duplicate intake. This product is not intended for children unless advised by a doctor.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. Keep the container tightly closed after each use and keep out of reach of children. Refer to the product label for any specific storage temperature.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild stomach discomfort, nausea, bloating, wind or indigestion.
  • Common: Diarrhoea or constipation in some people.
  • Less common: Headache, dizziness or drowsiness.
  • Serious: Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling of the face or lips, or difficulty breathing, particularly in people allergic to shellfish. Stop taking the product and seek medical help immediately.
  • Serious: Unusual bruising or bleeding in people taking warfarin or other blood thinners. Seek medical advice promptly.

Contraindications

  • Known allergy or hypersensitivity to glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, sodium hyaluronate or any other ingredient in the product.
  • Shellfish allergy, unless the label confirms the glucosamine source is not derived from shellfish or your doctor advises it is suitable.
  • Children, unless advised by a doctor.
  • Pregnancy, unless advised by a doctor, as there is limited safety information for these ingredients in pregnancy.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Warfarin and other anticoagulants: Glucosamine, alone or with chondroitin, has been reported to increase the effect of warfarin and the risk of bleeding. Do not start this product without speaking to your doctor, who may need to monitor your INR more closely.
  • Antiplatelet medicines (e.g. aspirin, clopidogrel): Use with care and inform your doctor, as chondroitin may have a mild effect on blood clotting.
  • Diabetes medicines: Glucosamine is an amino sugar; if you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar when starting the product and inform your doctor.
  • Other joint supplements: Avoid combining with other products containing glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM or hyaluronic acid unless advised, to prevent duplicate intake.
  • Food: No specific food interactions are known; taking the capsules after meals may improve stomach tolerance.

Quick Tips

  • Take the capsules consistently at the same times each day, after breakfast and after dinner.
  • Joint supplements are usually taken over several weeks; review with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice no change after a reasonable period.
  • Check the label for the glucosamine source if you have a shellfish allergy.
  • Avoid taking other glucosamine or chondroitin products at the same time to prevent duplicate intake.
  • Combine supplementation with weight management and gentle, regular exercise suited to your joints.
  • Tell your doctor you are taking this product if you use warfarin, other blood thinners or diabetes medicines.
