Overview

Dermatix Acne Scar Advanced Gel is a silicone-based topical gel from the Dermatix range, supplied in a 7g tube and classified as an OTC (Over-the-Counter) product available without a doctor’s prescription.

The formulation combines a silicone base (Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone) with skin-conditioning agents including Niacinamide, Zinc Gluconate, and Copper Gluconate, alongside supporting ingredients such as Sodium Hyaluronate and Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E). It is designed to be applied as a thin film that dries on the skin.

This gel is a distinct item within the Dermatix product family, separate from Dermatix Ultra and Dermatix Ultra Kids Gel, and from the similarly-named Dermatix Advanced Scar Formula product — always check the exact product name and pack size on the label. It is available through DoctorOnCall in Malaysia and Singapore.

Directions for Use

  • Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before each application.
  • Apply a thin, even layer of gel over the area, extending slightly beyond its edges.
  • Allow the gel to dry fully (typically a few minutes) before applying moisturiser, makeup, or sunscreen.
  • Wash hands after application, unless the hands are the treated area.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep the tube tightly capped after use.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild redness at the application site.
  • Common: Dryness or flaking of the treated skin.
  • Common: A slight tingling or itching sensation on application.
  • Serious: Signs of an allergic skin reaction — spreading rash, swelling, or blistering — which require the product to be stopped and medical advice to be sought.

Contraindications

  • Known allergy or hypersensitivity to silicones or any listed ingredient.
  • Open wounds, active infections, or broken/unhealed skin at the application site.
  • Not intended for use on mucous membranes or near the eyes.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant drug or food interactions are established for this topical silicone gel, as it is not intended to be absorbed systemically.
  • Avoid layering other active topical treatments (such as retinoids or exfoliating acids) on the same area at the same time without checking with a pharmacist, as this may cause irritation or affect how the gel dries.
  • Allow other skincare or sunscreen products to be applied only after the gel has fully dried.

Quick Tips

  • Apply at the same times each day, such as morning and night, to build a routine.
  • A thin, even film is all that is needed — avoid applying a thick layer.
  • Do a patch test on a small area first if you are using the product for the first time.
  • Keep the tube nozzle clean between uses to avoid contamination.
  • Allow the gel to dry completely before applying makeup or sunscreen over it.
  • Check the expiry date before starting a new tube.

Relevant Information

Precautions: Use only on intact, unbroken skin, and avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. Perform a small patch test before first use if you have sensitive skin. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should check with a pharmacist or doctor before use, as with any topical product.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Speak with a doctor or pharmacist if the treated area shows increasing redness, warmth, swelling, or discharge, if a skin reaction does not settle after stopping use, or if you are unsure which Dermatix product is appropriate for your skin.
