No prescription is required for this product, as it is a non-prescription medicine. This page is limited to product, safety and handling information.

Directions for Use

Diamicron 80mg Tablet is usually taken once or twice daily with breakfast or the first main meal of the day, swallowed whole with a glass of water, exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is important to eat a meal shortly after taking this medicine to reduce the risk of low blood sugar, and to take it at roughly the same time each day.

Dosage

The dosage of Diamicron 80mg Tablet is individualised based on your blood glucose response, and your doctor may start you on a lower dose before gradually adjusting it. Do not increase, decrease, skip, or double your dose without consulting your doctor, as incorrect dosing can lead to either poor blood sugar control or dangerously low blood sugar.

Shelf Life

Diamicron 80mg Tablet has a shelf life of approximately 36 months from the date of manufacture when stored correctly and left unopened. Always check the expiry date printed on the packaging before use and do not use the tablets beyond this date.

Storage Instructions

Store Diamicron 80mg Tablet below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, in its original packaging until ready for use. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Miconazole significantly increases the blood-glucose-lowering effect and must not be used together with gliclazide
  • Other antidiabetic medicines, including insulin, may increase the risk of hypoglycaemia when combined
  • Certain medicines such as NSAIDs, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, and some antifungals or antibiotics may alter gliclazide’s blood-glucose-lowering effect
  • Skipping or delaying meals after taking this medicine increases the risk of low blood sugar

Relevant Information

Diamicron 80mg Tablet works best when combined with a healthy, controlled-carbohydrate diet and regular physical activity.
