Diane-35 Tablet

Diane-35 Tablet contains cyproterone acetate 2mg and ethinylestradiol 0.035mg, a combined hormonal preparation used to treat moderate to severe acne and hirsutism (excess hair growth) in women with androgen-sensitive skin conditions, and it also provides effective contraception when taken as directed.

Cyproterone acetate is an anti-androgen that blocks androgen receptors in the skin and reduces androgen-driven sebum (oil) production, while ethinylestradiol is an oestrogen that suppresses ovulation and helps regulate the menstrual cycle; together they reduce acne and hirsutism while preventing pregnancy.

Cyproterone acetate competitively blocks androgen (male hormone) receptors in the skin and reduces circulating androgen levels, directly lowering the excess sebum production that drives acne and hirsutism. Ethinylestradiol suppresses the pituitary hormones (FSH and LH) needed for ovulation, which also stabilises the menstrual cycle and prevents pregnancy.

Take Diane-35 Tablet at the same time each day, with or without food, to maintain steady hormone levels and reduce the chance of breakthrough bleeding. Swallow the tablet whole with water, and follow the pack’s printed sequence exactly so you do not lose track of the tablet-free interval.

The usual regimen for Diane-35 Tablet is one tablet daily for 21 consecutive days, starting on day 1-5 of the menstrual cycle, followed by a 7-day tablet-free interval before starting the next pack. Your doctor will confirm the exact starting point and duration of treatment appropriate for your acne, hirsutism, or contraceptive needs.

Use this product before the expiry date stated on the packaging. Do not use the medicine if the expiry date has passed.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

• Nausea, especially in the first few cycles
• Breast tenderness
• Headache
• Mood changes or breakthrough spotting between periods
• Serious: signs of a blood clot – leg pain or swelling, sudden chest pain, breathlessness, or a sudden severe headache – require immediate medical attention

• Known or previous venous or arterial blood clot (e.g. deep vein thrombosis, stroke, heart attack)
• Smokers over 35 years of age
• Migraine with aura
• Active liver disease or liver tumours
• Known or suspected pregnancy, or hormone-sensitive cancers such as certain breast cancers

• Enzyme-inducing medicines such as rifampicin, certain anticonvulsants (e.g. carbamazepine, phenytoin), and St John’s Wort can reduce contraceptive and hormonal effectiveness
• Some antibiotics may occasionally reduce absorption or effectiveness – discuss additional contraceptive precautions with your doctor if prescribed a new antibiotic
• Smoking substantially increases the risk of blood clots when combined with this medicine
• Other hormonal medicines should not be taken alongside this product unless specifically directed by your doctor

• Take at the same time every day to keep hormone levels steady
• Use additional contraception (e.g. condoms) for the first 7 days if you are starting this medicine for the first time
• Do not smoke while taking this medicine, as it increases clot risk
• Report any leg swelling, chest pain, or breathing difficulty to a doctor immediately
