Estelle-35 Tablet

Estelle-35 Tablet contains cyproterone acetate 2mg and ethinylestradiol 35mcg, a combined hormonal tablet used to treat moderate-to-severe androgen-dependent skin conditions in women, such as acne, seborrhoea (excessively oily skin), and mild hirsutism (excess facial/body hair), and to provide contraception in women who require this treatment.

Cyproterone acetate is an anti-androgen that blocks the effect of androgens (male-type hormones) on the skin and hair follicles, reducing excess oil production and hair growth. Ethinylestradiol is a synthetic oestrogen that suppresses ovulation and works together with cyproterone to prevent pregnancy while the skin condition is being treated.

Cyproterone acetate blocks androgen receptors in the skin and hair follicles and reduces the body’s own androgen production, which lowers sebum (oil) output and slows unwanted hair growth. Ethinylestradiol suppresses ovulation and thickens cervical mucus, and together with cyproterone prevents pregnancy for as long as the tablets are taken correctly.

Take Estelle-35 Tablet at about the same time each day, with a full glass of water, following the order marked on the blister pack. If you miss a tablet, or have vomiting or severe diarrhoea, refer to the patient information leaflet or contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately for specific advice, as missing tablets can reduce contraceptive protection.

Estelle-35 Tablet is usually taken as one tablet daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day tablet-free interval, repeated in a monthly cycle. Your doctor may recommend continuing treatment for several menstrual cycles after your skin symptoms clear before reassessing whether to continue. Always follow your doctor’s specific instructions, as the dosing schedule and duration are individualised.

Use this product before the expiry date stated on the packaging. Do not use the medicine if the expiry date has passed.

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

• Nausea and headache
• Breast tenderness
• Mood changes
• Breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods, especially in the first few cycles
• Serious: signs of a blood clot – calf pain, swelling or warmth in one leg, sudden chest pain or breathlessness, sudden severe headache, vision changes, or one-sided weakness – require emergency medical attention

• Known hypersensitivity to cyproterone acetate, ethinylestradiol, or any ingredient in this product
• Current or past history of venous or arterial thromboembolism, including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, stroke, or heart attack
• Migraine with aura
• Smokers over the age of 35 (significantly increased risk of blood clots)
• Known or suspected pregnancy, hormone-dependent cancers, or severe liver disease

• Enzyme-inducing medicines (e.g. certain anticonvulsants such as carbamazepine or phenytoin, rifampicin, St John’s Wort) can reduce this medicine’s effectiveness
• Some antibiotics may occasionally reduce contraceptive reliability – ask your pharmacist if additional contraception is needed
• Other hormonal medicines or hormonal contraceptives should not be taken at the same time
• Smoking substantially increases the risk of serious blood clots and cardiovascular side effects with this medicine

• Never smoke while taking this medicine, particularly if you are over 35, due to a significantly increased risk of blood clots
• This medicine is prescribed for your acne, hirsutism, seborrhoea, or contraceptive need – it should not be added on top of another contraceptive method
• Take your tablet at the same time every day to maintain contraceptive protection
• Report calf pain or swelling, chest pain, sudden severe headache, or vision changes to your doctor immediately
• Attend regular follow-up appointments with your doctor to review ongoing treatment
• Tell your doctor about your full medical and family history, especially any history of blood clots, before starting
