What is Differin (Adapalene) 0.1% Gel?

  • Differin (Adapalene) 0.1% Gel is a prescription-only medicine (POM) supplied as a gel, containing the active ingredient adapalene 0.1%.
  • Adapalene belongs to the class of medicines known as retinoids, and the gel is supplied in a 30g tube.

  • It is for use on the skin only and should be used under medical supervision.
Is this strength right for me?

Is this strength right for me?

  • Differin is available as a 0.1% gel only. Your doctor will confirm whether it suits you, based on your skin, health, other medicines and individual response.
  • Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin once daily, preferably in the evening, or as your doctor directs.
  • Do not use more than prescribed. Applying more does not improve results and may increase irritation.
  • Differin gel may not be safe to use during pregnancy, so tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
Delivery, packaging and ordering

Delivery, packaging and ordering

  • Choose your product and complete an online consultation. Your request is reviewed by a licensed doctor, and approved medication is dispensed by a registered pharmacist before delivery.
  • Orders placed outside consultation hours may be queued for review on the next working day.
  • The product page lists fast delivery. Check the page for current delivery options and charges.
  • Each pack carries its MAL registration number from the Ministry of Health Malaysia, which you can verify through the relevant Ministry of Health resources.
Side effects, safety and when to seek help

Side effects, safety and when to seek help

  • As with any medicine, Differin may cause side effects in some people. Common effects of this type of product include dryness, redness, peeling and a stinging or burning feeling on the skin.
  • Do not use it if you are allergic to adapalene or any ingredient in the product. It is also not suitable on broken, sunburned, eczematous or severely irritated skin, as this may worsen irritation.
  • Avoid products that contain alcohol, astringents or other drying agents, as these may increase skin irritation. Protect treated skin from strong sun and use sunscreen. Tell your doctor about all medicines and skin products you use.
  • Stop using it and contact your doctor if you develop severe irritation, swelling, blistering, or signs of infection. Seek immediate medical attention for swelling of the face or lips, difficulty breathing, or any severe or unexpected reaction.

How to use your Differin (Adapalene) 0.1% Gel

  1. Step 1

Confirm with your doctor that Differin is suitable for you. Tell them about any allergies, skin conditions, whether you are pregnant, and any other skin products you use.

  2. Step 2

Wash the area with a gentle cleanser and dry it completely before applying, as damp skin can increase irritation.

  3. Step 3

Apply a thin, pea-sized layer to the whole area to be treated, usually once daily in the evening, on clean, dry skin, not only on individual spots. Avoid your eyes, lips, nostrils and broken skin, and wash your hands afterwards.

  4. Step 4

Avoid alcohol-based, astringent or other drying products on the same area. Use sunscreen during the day. Do not stop on your own, and speak to your doctor if irritation is severe or does not settle.

Dosage

Apply a thin, pea-sized amount of Differin (Adapalene) 0.1% Gel once daily, usually in the evening, to the entire affected area of clean, dry skin – not just individual spots. Side Effects

Differin Adapalene Gel may cause skin reactions, particularly during the first few weeks of treatment. Symptoms can vary between individuals and may improve as the skin adjusts. Follow your prescriber’s instructions and monitor your skin for persistent or severe reactions.

Skin Dryness, Redness or Peeling

The skin may become dry, red or flaky, especially during the first few weeks of treatment.

Stinging or Burning

A brief stinging or burning sensation may occur shortly after applying the gel.

Temporary Acne Flare-Up

Acne may appear temporarily worse during the early stages of treatment. Persistent or severe worsening should be assessed by a healthcare professional.

Increased Sun Sensitivity

Your skin may become more sensitive to sunlight. Limit sun exposure, wear protective clothing and use sunscreen as advised.

Important Safety Warning

Signs of a serious allergic reaction may include a widespread rash, swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing. Seek emergency medical attention immediately if these symptoms occur.

This information does not replace the product leaflet or advice from your healthcare professional. As Differin Adapalene Gel is a prescription item, follow your prescriber’s instructions and seek advice if reactions persist, worsen or cause concern.
