Overview

Dyna Inhaler is a portable nasal inhaler stick from the Malaysian Dyna range, formulated with menthol, camphor, and eucalyptus oil in a small, pocket-sized applicator. It is designed for on-the-go inhalation, allowing the aromatic vapours to be inhaled directly by holding the stick close to the nostril, and is sold as an over-the-counter (OTC) item at Malaysian pharmacies, meaning it does not require a doctor’s prescription to purchase. It is manufactured under the Dyna brand by Dynapharm, a Malaysian company whose name appears on retail listings for this and related Dyna-branded products.

The product is supplied in a compact 2ml format that fits easily into a pocket or bag, distinguishing it from larger chest-rub or vapour-based alternatives. As with all menthol- and camphor-containing products, the exact concentration of each ingredient and any age restrictions are set out on the printed packaging, which should always be checked before use. It is a single, fixed formulation rather than a range of strengths, so there is no separate paediatric or adult-only version to choose between.

Directions for Use

  • Remove the cap from the inhaler stick.
  • Hold the stick close to one nostril without inserting it into the nose.
  • Inhale gently through that nostril, then repeat with the other nostril if needed.
  • Replace the cap tightly after each use to preserve the aromatic vapours.
  • Avoid prolonged or continuous inhalation in a single session.

Dosage

Use as needed, generally up to 4-6 times per day, or as directed on the pack label. Avoid excessive or prolonged inhalation in one sitting, and allow breaks between uses. This product is not recommended for infants or children under 2 years of age without a pharmacist’s guidance.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the cap tightly closed when not in use, and keep out of reach and sight of children.

Side Effects

  • Common: mild, temporary burning or tingling sensation in the nose.
  • Common: mild throat irritation if vapours are inhaled too deeply or too often.
  • Serious: skin or eye irritation if the stick directly contacts the skin or eyes — rinse thoroughly with water if this occurs.
  • Serious: signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing — discontinue use and seek medical attention.

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to menthol, camphor, eucalyptus oil, or any other ingredient in this product.
  • Infants and children under 2 years of age.
  • Direct contact with the eyes, mucous membranes, or broken or irritated skin.
  • Use inside the nostril by insertion, rather than external inhalation as directed.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant drug or food interactions are documented for inhaled use as directed.
  • Using this product together with other menthol-, camphor-, or eucalyptus-containing preparations (such as chest rubs or other inhalers) at the same time can increase total exposure and the risk of irritation; use only one such product at a time.
  • Not intended for oral ingestion or application to broken skin.

Quick Tips

  • Keep the cap tightly closed between uses to preserve the aromatic vapours.
  • Carry the stick in a pocket or bag for convenient use throughout the day.
  • Avoid letting the stick touch the skin, eyes, or the inside of the nostril directly.
  • Do not share the inhaler stick with others.
  • Replace the stick once the aromatic scent has noticeably weakened, even if before the printed expiry date.
  • Keep away from open flames, as aromatic oils can be flammable.

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Active ingredients: Menthol, Camphor, and Eucalyptus oil.
  • Formulated as an aromatic inhalant stick for nasal use.
  • Supplied in a 2ml portable inhaler format.

Relevant Information

Precautions: Use with caution in young children, and avoid use in infants and children under 2 years unless a pharmacist advises otherwise. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should check with a pharmacist before regular use. Avoid inhaling too close to the nostril opening or for prolonged periods, as this may cause irritation.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Seek medical advice if nasal congestion or breathing difficulty persists for more than 7 days, worsens, or is accompanied by high fever, facial pain, or thick discoloured discharge, as these may indicate a condition requiring further assessment.
