Overview

Fresnoz + Nasal Rinse Kit is a nasal irrigation kit consisting of a squeeze bottle and pre-measured sachets containing pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. The sachets are dissolved in water to prepare an isotonic saline rinse solution for the nasal passages.

This kit is sold over the counter as a nasal hygiene product rather than a medicine, and the formulation is preservative-free and iodine-free. Each kit generally includes one bottle and multiple single-use sachets, with the solution prepared fresh before each rinse.

Directions for Use

Dissolve the contents of one sachet completely into the supplied bottle filled with lukewarm, previously boiled or distilled water, and shake gently to mix. Lean over a sink and tilt the head to one side, then gently squeeze the solution into the upper nostril, allowing it to drain out through the lower nostril or mouth. Repeat on the other side using a freshly prepared solution.

Dosage

Use one prepared sachet per rinse session, up to twice a day, or according to the instructions on the product packaging or advice from a doctor or pharmacist. Discard any leftover mixed solution after each use and prepare a fresh solution for the next rinse.

Storage Instructions

Store unopened sachets and the bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the bottle and nozzle clean and dry between uses.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild nasal or sinus discomfort during the rinse.
  • Common: A temporary salty taste at the back of the throat.
  • Serious: Nosebleed or ear discomfort, which should be reported to a doctor or pharmacist if it occurs repeatedly.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if there is an active ear infection.
  • Do not use if allergic to any ingredient in the sachet.
  • Do not use the solution if it has changed colour, appears cloudy, or contains particles.
  • Do not use if the bottle or nozzle is damaged.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant food interactions are known for this saline rinse.
  • This rinse may be used alongside nasal sprays or drops prescribed by a doctor; leave a short gap between the rinse and other nasal products unless advised otherwise by a pharmacist.

Quick Tips

  • Always use freshly boiled and cooled water, or distilled water, rather than untreated tap water to prepare the rinse.
  • Rinse the bottle and nozzle thoroughly with clean water after each use and allow them to air-dry.
  • Breathe through the mouth while rinsing to avoid swallowing or inhaling the solution.
  • Prepare one sachet at a time rather than mixing extra solution for later.
  • Blow the nose gently after rinsing to clear any remaining solution and mucus.
  • Replace the bottle periodically in line with the manufacturer’s guidance to maintain hygiene.

Relevant Information

Precautions: This kit is intended for nasal use only and should not be swallowed. Supervise young children during use and confirm the appropriate technique with a doctor or pharmacist before use in children. Discontinue use and seek advice if nasal irritation, bleeding, or ear discomfort develops.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Seek medical advice if nasal symptoms do not improve, if there is persistent ear pain or a change in hearing after use, or if fever, facial pain, or thick discoloured discharge develops.
