Holistica Coflix Syrup

Holistica Coflix Syrup is an over-the-counter (OTC) herbal syrup sold in Malaysia, formulated with a blend of traditional herbal extracts including Bulbus Fritillariae, Poria, Anemarrhena, Trichosanthes, Bambusa, Citrus Peel, Licorice Root, Astragalus and Pinellia, together with Ivy Leaf Extract and Elderberry Extract. It is manufactured by Eldon and marketed under the Holistica brand name for the Malaysian market.

The syrup is formulated without added sugar or alcohol, is presented as a non-drowsy formula, and is preserved with 0.055% w/v benzoic acid. It is supplied in a 100ml bottle together with a measuring cup or spoon for accurate dosing.

As an OTC product, Holistica Coflix Syrup is available without a doctor’s prescription and has dosing bands for a range of ages, from children aged 2 years and above through to adults, based on the manufacturer’s labelling. It is not intended for children under 2 years of age, and dosing should always follow the age-based guidance on the pack.

Shake the bottle well before each use. Measure the dose using the cup or spoon provided with the product. Take the dose after meals, as directed for the appropriate age group. Do not use a kitchen spoon in place of the measuring device provided, as this may lead to an inaccurate dose.

For children aged 2 to 5 years: 2.5ml taken twice daily after meals. For children aged 5 to 12 years: 2.5ml taken three times daily after meals. For adults and children aged 12 years and above: 5ml taken three times daily after meals. This product is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. Always confirm the dose against the printed pack insert or with a pharmacist, particularly for younger children, and do not exceed the stated frequency.

• Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
• Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
• Keep out of reach and sight of children.

• Common: Mild stomach upset in some individuals.
• Common: Temporary change in taste after dosing.
• Serious: Signs of an allergic reaction, such as skin rash, swelling of the face or lips, or difficulty breathing, which require immediate medical attention.
• Serious: Unusual bleeding or bruising in individuals taking blood-thinning medication, which should be reported to a doctor promptly.

• Children under 2 years of age.
• Known hypersensitivity to any of the herbal ingredients or to benzoic acid, the preservative used in this formulation.
• Not suitable for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding without first checking with a doctor or pharmacist.
• Not recommended for individuals taking Vitamin K-dependent blood-thinning medication (such as warfarin) without medical advice.

• May interact with Vitamin K-dependent blood-thinning medication such as warfarin; check with a doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are on such treatment.
• Take after meals as part of the normal dosing schedule; no other significant food interactions have been identified.
• Avoid taking together with other cough or cold products that contain overlapping herbal ingredients, to prevent exceeding the recommended daily intake.

• Keep a record of dosing times, especially when giving the syrup to young children.
• Store the bottle upright with the cap tightly closed between uses.
• Check the age-based dosing table on the pack before each use.
• Note the date the bottle was opened so you know when to discard any remaining syrup.

Precautions: This product should be used with care in individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, those on Vitamin K-dependent blood-thinning medication, and children, who should only be given the syrup according to the age-based dosing on the pack. It is not intended for children under 2 years old.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Consult a doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist for more than a week, if they worsen, or if they are accompanied by fever, breathing difficulty, or other concerning symptoms, especially in young children.
