Homecare Dermafin Cream

Homecare Dermafin Cream is an over-the-counter (OTC) topical antifungal cream sold in Malaysia, containing Terbinafine Hydrochloride at a strength of 1% w/w (equivalent to 10mg per gram of cream). It belongs to the allylamine class of topical antifungal preparations and is presented as a white to off-white cream for external application to the skin.

Homecare Dermafin Cream is supplied in a 10g tube, sized for short courses of localised treatment on a specific area of skin. The same terbinafine 1% w/w formulation is also sold under the YSP brand name in Malaysia and Singapore, with Homecare being the house brand used by certain Malaysian online pharmacies for this YSP-manufactured product.

As an OTC product, Homecare Dermafin Cream can be purchased from registered Malaysian pharmacies without a doctor’s prescription. It is intended for external use on the skin only, and individuals should always check the printed batch number and expiry date on the tube before use, and read the accompanying product information leaflet for full details.

Wash and dry the affected area of skin thoroughly before applying the cream. Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area and gently rub it in. Wash your hands after application, unless the hands are the area being treated. Avoid applying the cream to broken skin, open wounds, or near the eyes and mucous membranes. Follow the frequency and duration stated on the product packaging or as advised by a pharmacist.

The cream is generally applied once or twice daily to the affected area, depending on the site being treated, or as directed by a pharmacist. Continue using the cream for the full course as advised, even if the skin appears to improve earlier, to help ensure the treated area is adequately covered. Do not use a larger amount or apply more frequently than directed on the packaging.

This product is for external use only and should not be applied to the eyes, mouth, or internal surfaces. If there is no improvement after the recommended treatment period, or if the condition worsens, stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist.

• Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
• Keep the tube tightly closed after each use.
• Keep out of reach and sight of children.

• Common: Mild redness or irritation at the application site.
• Common: Itching or a burning/stinging sensation where the cream is applied.
• Common: Dryness or mild peeling of the treated skin.
• Serious: Signs of an allergic skin reaction, such as a spreading rash, blistering, or swelling, which should be assessed by a doctor.
• Serious: Severe irritation that does not settle with continued use, which should prompt discontinuation and medical advice.

• Known hypersensitivity to terbinafine or any other ingredient in the cream.
• Not for use on the eyes, inside the mouth or nose, or on mucous membranes.
• Not for use on broken skin or open wounds unless specifically advised by a doctor or pharmacist.
• Use in children should only be under the guidance of a doctor or pharmacist.

• No clinically significant drug interactions are expected with normal topical use, as absorption into the bloodstream from the skin is minimal.
• Avoid applying other topical creams, ointments or cosmetics to the same area at the same time unless advised by a pharmacist, to avoid diluting the product or causing skin irritation.
• Not applicable – food does not affect the use of this topical cream.

• Keep the affected area clean and dry between applications.
• Use a separate towel for the affected area to avoid spreading the condition to other parts of the body or to other people.
• Wash your hands before and after applying the cream, unless treating the hands themselves.
• Avoid tight or non-breathable clothing over the treated area where possible.
• Complete the full course as advised, even if the skin looks better after a few days.
• Keep the tube capped tightly and stored away from bathroom humidity.

Precautions: This product is for external use only. It should be used with care in children, and individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding should check with a doctor or pharmacist before use. Avoid contact with eyes; if accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Consult a doctor or pharmacist if there is no improvement after the recommended treatment period, if the affected area spreads or worsens, or if signs of an allergic reaction appear.
