Overview

Malarone Tablet contains Atovaquone 250mg and Proguanil hydrochloride 100mg and is available as a tablet. It is classified as a prescription medicine and may only be obtained with a valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner.

Only product, safety and handling information is published here. Anything beyond that is explained to you directly by your doctor or pharmacist as part of your consultation.

DoctorOnCall is a licensed online pharmacy. Orders for Malarone Tablet are processed only after a doctor has assessed your suitability and issued a prescription, and every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is sent out.

Directions for Use

Take Malarone Tablet with food or a milky drink at the same time each day, as fatty food significantly improves absorption of atovaquone. If vomiting occurs within an hour of taking a dose, a repeat dose may be needed – follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s guidance on this.

Dosage

For malaria prevention, Malarone Tablet is usually started 1-2 days before entering a risk area, continued once daily throughout the stay, and continued for 7 days after leaving; for treatment of acute malaria, a higher daily dose is taken for 3 consecutive days. Your doctor will confirm the exact regimen and duration appropriate for your travel plans or diagnosis.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
