Overview

NasoCare (Infant) is supplied as a healthcare product, with materials and components. It is supplied in a pack size of 50ml.

No prescription is required for this product, as it is an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine. This page is limited to product, safety and handling information.

If you would like guidance before buying, you can speak to a doctor or pharmacist through an online consultation on DoctorOnCall. Orders are dispensed by a registered pharmacist and delivered to your address.

Directions for Use

Wash your hands before use. Gently tilt your baby’s head slightly backward or to the side, insert the spray nozzle just inside one nostril without pushing it in deeply, and give a gentle spray. Repeat for the other nostril. Wipe away any excess solution or loosened mucus from around the nostrils with a soft tissue, and use a bulb or nasal aspirator afterwards if needed to remove loosened mucus. Clean the nozzle tip after each use according to the packaging instructions.

Dosage

The typical use is 1 to 2 sprays into each nostril, 2 to 3 times a day, or as recommended by your paediatrician. Frequency can be adjusted as needed, but should follow the guidance on the packaging or from a healthcare professional rather than being used excessively.

Shelf Life

Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the packaging. Once opened, use the bottle within the timeframe stated on the packaging, as the solution is preservative-free and intended for a limited period of use after opening.

Storage Instructions

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat, and keep the bottle upright and tightly closed between uses, following the storage instructions printed on the packaging. Keep out of reach of children when not in use, and use a clean bottle for each baby rather than sharing between siblings.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild, brief sneezing immediately after spraying.
  • Common: Temporary runny nose or slight tingling sensation.
  • Serious: Signs of irritation, persistent crying or distress associated with use, or worsening nasal symptoms, which should be assessed by a doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if your baby has a known hypersensitivity to any component of the saline solution.
  • Do not use a bottle that appears damaged, contaminated, or has been used by another baby.
  • Do not force the nozzle deep into the nostril; use gently and only as far as the tip of the nozzle requires.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant drug interactions are known, as isotonic saline is not absorbed in a way that affects other medicines.
  • If your baby is using any prescribed nasal or respiratory medicine, check with your paediatrician on the order and spacing of use alongside NasoCare (Infant).
  • No food interactions are known with this product.

Quick Tips

  • Use NasoCare (Infant) shortly before feeding as part of your baby’s nasal care routine.
  • Follow up with a bulb or nasal aspirator if mucus needs to be physically removed after spraying.
  • Wipe the nozzle clean after every use to keep it hygienic for the next application.
  • Use a dedicated bottle for each baby rather than sharing between siblings.
  • Keep the bottle at room temperature rather than in a hot car or direct sun.
  • Seek medical advice if congestion interferes with feeding, breathing, or sleep despite regular use.

Relevant Information

Precautions: NasoCare (Infant) is intended for nasal use only and should be used gently to avoid discomfort to a baby’s sensitive nasal tissue. It should not be used as a substitute for medical assessment if a baby has a high fever, difficulty breathing, or feeding problems, and each baby should ideally use their own bottle to reduce the risk of spreading infection between siblings.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: See a doctor promptly if your baby has difficulty breathing, is feeding poorly, has a high fever, or appears unusually lethargic. Speak with a pharmacist if you are unsure how often to use NasoCare (Infant) for your baby’s age.
