Opti-free Replenish Multi-Purpose Disinfecting Solution

Opti-free Replenish Multi-Purpose Disinfecting Solution is an all-in-one contact lens care solution formulated for soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses. Its disinfecting system combines the antimicrobial agents polyquaternium-1 (0.001%) and myristamidopropyl dimethylamine, also known as Aldox (0.0005%), along with conditioning and buffering ingredients such as sodium citrate, sodium chloride, boric acid, sorbitol, aminomethylpropanol, and tetronic 1304 in purified water. It is sold over the counter in a multipack of 3 bottles of 300ml each.

As a multi-purpose solution, it is designed to remove protein and lipid deposits, debris, and micro-organisms from the lens surface in a single routine, while also adding moisture-retentive conditioning agents to the lens surface. It is not suitable for rigid gas-permeable or hard contact lenses unless specifically directed by an eye care professional. It requires no prescription to purchase.

Polyquaternium-1 and Aldox act as disinfecting (antimicrobial) agents that work together to reduce populations of bacteria and other micro-organisms that can accumulate on a worn contact lens. Polyquaternium-1 disrupts microbial cell membranes, while Aldox has a complementary antimicrobial action, and together they are formulated to remain effective while being gentle enough for daily contact with the eye at recommended soak times. The buffering and conditioning ingredients help maintain a comfortable pH and add lubricating, moisture-retentive properties to the lens surface, while sorbitol and the citrate/chloride buffer system help keep the solution isotonic with natural tears so that rinsed lenses feel comfortable on reinsertion.

Wash and dry your hands before handling lenses. Remove one lens and place it in the palm of your hand, apply a few drops of solution, and rub each side of the lens gently for about 10 seconds, unless your product is labelled as a true “no-rub” formula, in which case follow the label instructions exactly. Rinse the lens thoroughly with fresh solution to remove the loosened debris, then place it in the clean lens case and fill with fresh solution, ensuring the lens is fully submerged. Allow the lens to soak for the minimum time stated on the pack (commonly at least 6 hours or overnight) before wearing it. Never reuse old solution, and always empty and air-dry the lens case after use.

This is a lens-care solution rather than a dosed medicine. Each lens should be cleaned and soaked in fresh solution for a minimum recommended soak time (commonly at least 6 hours, or overnight) before wear, and the solution in the lens case should be replaced with fresh solution every time, never topped up or reused. If your eyes become persistently red, uncomfortable, or you develop discharge or pain despite following the recommended lens-care routine, stop wearing your lenses and see an optometrist or doctor.

Use before the expiry date printed on the bottle. Once a bottle has been opened, follow the in-use discard period stated on the label or carton (commonly a matter of weeks to a few months for multi-purpose lens solutions), and discard the bottle after that time even if solution remains.

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and out of the reach of children. Keep the bottle tightly capped between uses, avoid letting the tip touch your hands, lenses, or the lens case to reduce the risk of contaminating the solution, and replace your lens case regularly as advised by your eye care professional.

• Common: mild stinging or burning sensation on lens insertion.
• Common: temporary blurred vision or dryness immediately after wearing lenses soaked in the solution.
• Uncommon: redness or a gritty, foreign-body sensation, particularly if the lens was not rinsed thoroughly after cleaning.
• Serious: eye pain, marked redness, light sensitivity, or discharge, which can indicate contact lens-related infection or inflammation and needs urgent assessment by an eye care professional; do not simply continue wearing lenses through these symptoms.

• Known hypersensitivity to polyquaternium-1, myristamidopropyl dimethylamine (Aldox), or any other ingredient in the solution.
• Do not use on rigid gas-permeable or hard contact lenses unless your eye care professional has specifically approved this solution for that lens type.
• Do not use if you have an active eye infection or inflammation; remove lenses and seek professional assessment instead.

• No clinically significant systemic drug interactions are known, as this solution is used externally on contact lenses and is not absorbed into the body in meaningful amounts.
• Do not mix this solution with, or top it up using, a different brand or type of lens-care solution, as combining products can reduce disinfecting effectiveness or cause irritation.
• Do not substitute plain saline or tap water for this solution, as they do not disinfect lenses and tap water in particular can introduce infection-causing organisms.

• Always rub and rinse each lens even if soaking overnight, unless your product is a specifically labelled no-rub formula, to maximise removal of debris and micro-organisms.
• Never reuse old solution left in the lens case; always empty it out and refill with fresh solution.
• Replace your lens case every 1 to 3 months, or sooner if it looks worn, cracked, or discoloured.
• Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before handling lenses or solution to reduce contamination risk.
• Never use tap water, saliva, or homemade saline in place of this solution.
• If your eyes are red, painful, or unusually sensitive to light, remove your lenses immediately and seek professional advice rather than continuing to wear them.

Precautions: This solution is intended for soft contact lenses only, and should not be used on rigid gas-permeable or hard lenses without specific advice from an eye care professional. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can generally continue using their usual lens-care routine, but should maintain good hygiene and have regular eye check-ups. Children and adolescents who wear contact lenses should be supervised in proper lens-care technique. Do not use this product if you have an active eye infection.
