Overview

Oxy 5 Regular Cream contains materials and components and is presented as a cream. It is supplied in a pack size of 25g.

It is classified as an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine, so no prescription is needed to order it. Under Malaysian rules for medicine information, this page carries product, safety and handling information only.

You can consult a doctor or pharmacist online on DoctorOnCall about this product before or after you order. Every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is delivered. Always read the label and the leaflet supplied with the pack.

Directions for Use

Cleanse and thoroughly dry the affected skin (face, chest, or back) before application. Apply a thin layer of Oxy 5 Regular Cream directly to the affected areas, avoiding the eyes, lips, and inside of the nose. Start with once-daily use, usually at night, and increase to twice daily as skin tolerance allows. Allow the cream to absorb fully; do not rinse off immediately after application. Use sunscreen during the day, as treated skin can become more sensitive to sunlight.

Dosage

Not applicable — Oxy 5 Regular Cream is for external, topical use only and is not taken orally. A thin layer is applied to affected skin once or twice daily, starting with once-daily application to build tolerance before increasing to twice daily if the skin tolerates it well.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the tube tightly capped after use and out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Common: dryness, peeling, or flaking of treated skin, especially in the first 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Common: mild redness, burning, or stinging sensation on application.
  • Serious: allergic contact dermatitis with marked swelling, blistering, or widespread rash, which requires stopping use and seeking medical advice.

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity or allergy to benzoyl peroxide or any other ingredient in the cream.
  • Not for use on broken, sunburnt, severely irritated, or eczematous skin.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, mouth, and inside of the nose.
  • Not generally recommended for children under 12 years without pharmacist or doctor guidance.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Concurrent use with other topical acne treatments containing retinoids, salicylic acid, or alcohol-based astringents may increase skin dryness and irritation; space out application times or alternate products as advised by a pharmacist.
  • Benzoyl peroxide can bleach hair and coloured fabric on contact; this is a cosmetic/material interaction rather than a drug interaction, but is important to note for daily use.
  • Increases skin photosensitivity, so sun exposure should be limited and sunscreen used during treatment.
  • No specific food interactions are known for this topical-only product.

Quick Tips

  • Introduce the cream gradually, starting once daily, to reduce the chance of excessive dryness or irritation.
  • Always apply sunscreen during the day, as benzoyl peroxide can make skin more sensitive to the sun.
  • Use white towels, pillowcases, and clothing when applying the cream to avoid permanent bleaching stains.
  • Pair with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser to help manage dryness.
  • Avoid combining with other strong topical actives at the same time unless advised by a pharmacist.
  • Use consistently as directed, and check in with a pharmacist after several weeks of regular use.

Relevant Information

Precautions: Oxy 5 Regular Cream should be used strictly as directed and only on the skin. Perform a small patch test if you have sensitive skin, and stop use if excessive irritation, swelling, or blistering occurs. Avoid using on broken or sunburnt skin, and minimise sun exposure while using this product, applying sunscreen during the day.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Consult a doctor or pharmacist if the affected skin is severe, extensive, or scarring, if there is no change after 4 to 8 weeks of consistent use, or if you experience a significant allergic reaction such as widespread rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing, which requires urgent medical attention.
