Overview

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Nursing Cream is a rich moisturising cream from Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula range, made for breastfeeding mothers. It is designed to help moisturise and soften the delicate skin of the nipples and areola, which can become dry and uncomfortable during the early weeks of nursing. The cream has a thick, nourishing texture that stays on the skin between feeds. It is a convenient addition to a new mother’s personal care routine.

As the name indicates, the formula is based on cocoa butter, the signature ingredient of the Palmer’s range, which is widely used in skin care for its emollient properties. A rich emollient layer helps lock in moisture and leaves the skin feeling softer and more comfortable. Palmer’s also lists other skin-conditioning ingredients in this product, so please check the packaging for the complete ingredient list. Always follow the pack instructions on whether the cream should be wiped off before feeding your baby.

Frequent feeding, pumping and Malaysia’s warm, humid climate can make nipple skin feel sore, dry or sensitive, particularly in the first weeks after delivery. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Nursing Cream offers a simple way to care for this area after feeds and showers. It can be kept in a nursing bag or by the bedside for easy use during night feeds. If you experience persistent pain, cracking, bleeding or signs of infection, speak to a doctor, midwife or lactation consultant.

Directions for Use

  • Wash and dry your hands before use.
  • After feeding or pumping, gently pat the nipple area dry.
  • Apply a small amount of cream to the nipples and areola and smooth in gently.
  • Before the next feed, follow the pack directions on whether to wipe off any remaining cream.

Storage Instructions

  • Store at room temperature, below 30°C.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat, as the cream may soften in high temperatures.
  • Close the cap or lid tightly after use.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • This nursing cream is generally well tolerated when used as directed.
  • Mild skin irritation, redness or itching may occur in people with sensitive skin.
  • An allergic skin reaction may occur in people sensitive to any of the ingredients.
  • Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if irritation persists or worsens.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if you are allergic to cocoa butter or any other ingredient listed on the pack.
  • Do not apply to deeply cracked, bleeding or infected skin without advice from a doctor or midwife.
  • Stop using if your baby shows signs of irritation or feeding difficulty after you apply the cream, and seek advice.
  • For external use only; do not swallow.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No known food interactions.
  • If you have been prescribed a nipple cream or other treatment, check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product at the same time.
  • Avoid layering with other creams on the nipple area unless advised by a healthcare professional.

Quick Tips

  • Keep a tube in your nursing bag and one by the bed for night feeds.
  • Let nipples air-dry for a short time after feeds before applying.
  • Wear soft, breathable nursing bras and change damp breast pads often.
  • Check your baby’s latch with a midwife or lactation consultant if nipples stay sore.
  • Use only a thin layer; a little goes a long way.

Relevant Information

For external use only. Patch test on a small area of skin before first use if you have sensitive skin.

Persistent nipple pain, cracking or bleeding can be related to latch or infection, so seek advice from a doctor, midwife or lactation consultant.
