Pharmaniaga Co-Amoxiclav 228mg/5ml suspension contains amoxicillin 200mg and clavulanic acid 28mg per 5mL, a penicillin antibiotic combination oral suspension used to treat bacterial infections in children and others who cannot swallow tablets. The clavulanic acid protects amoxicillin from being broken down by certain bacterial enzymes, widening the range of infections it can treat.

Amoxicillin works by preventing bacteria from building a proper cell wall, causing them to weaken and die. Clavulanic acid blocks beta-lactamase enzymes that some bacteria use to destroy amoxicillin, allowing the antibiotic to remain effective against a broader range of bacteria, including some that would otherwise be resistant.
