Overview

Pharmaniaga Salbutamol Expectorant is a healthcare product with Salbutamol – bronchodilator component declared as its active content. It is supplied in a pack size of 90ml.

This is a non-prescription product and can be purchased without a prescription. Only product, safety and handling details are published on this page.

An online consultation with a DoctorOnCall doctor or pharmacist is available for this product, and a registered pharmacist reviews each order before dispatch to Malaysia or Singapore. Follow the directions on the label and on the leaflet inside the pack.

Directions for Use

Shake the bottle well before use and measure the dose using the measuring cup or oral syringe provided rather than a household spoon, to ensure accuracy. Take the syrup orally at the intervals stated on the packaging or as advised by a pharmacist or doctor, generally with or after food to reduce the chance of stomach upset, and drink plenty of fluids to help loosen mucus further.

Dosage

Dosage is generally based on age, with lower doses for children and higher doses for adults, taken two to three times a day as printed on the product label; do not exceed the maximum daily dose stated on the packaging. If symptoms do not improve within a few days of regular use, or if breathing difficulty worsens, stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist before continuing.

Shelf Life

Use this product before the expiry date printed on the bottle or carton. Once opened, liquid preparations such as this syrup are generally best used within the period stated by the manufacturer on the label or leaflet, after which any remaining syrup should be discarded even if the printed expiry date has not yet passed.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, and keep the bottle tightly capped between uses. Keep out of the reach and sight of children, and do not store in the bathroom or near a sink where humidity is high.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Other bronchodilators, decongestants, or stimulant medicines may increase the risk of tremor, palpitations, or a fast heart rate when combined with salbutamol

  • Diuretics (water pills) used together with salbutamol may increase the risk of low blood potassium

Quick Tips

  • Shake the bottle well before every dose to ensure the medicine is evenly mixed
  • Always use the measuring cup or syringe provided, not a kitchen spoon, for an accurate dose
  • Drink plenty of water to help loosen and clear phlegm
  • Avoid taking this together with other cough, cold, or asthma medicines without checking with a pharmacist, to prevent duplicating ingredients
