Overview

Sandoz Candesartan 8mg Tablet contains candesartan 8mg, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and, in some patients, chronic heart failure as an add-on to other heart failure treatments.

Candesartan works by blocking the AT1 receptor that angiotensin II normally binds to, preventing this hormone from narrowing blood vessels and triggering sodium and water retention. This allows blood vessels to relax and widen, lowering blood pressure and reducing the workload on the heart.

How it Works

Candesartan selectively blocks the AT1 receptor, preventing angiotensin II from exerting its blood-vessel-narrowing and sodium-retaining effects. This relaxes blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, and eases the heart’s workload.

Directions for Use

Take Sandoz Candesartan 8mg Tablet at about the same time every day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well, as blood pressure and heart failure control need to be continuous.

Dosage

The usual starting dose of Sandoz Candesartan 8mg Tablet for hypertension is 8mg once daily, which your doctor may increase up to 32mg daily depending on your blood pressure response. For heart failure, dosing is individualised and started at a lower dose with gradual titration under medical supervision. Always take exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Shelf Life

How long does it take for candesartan to work?

Can I stop taking this medicine if my blood pressure normalises?
