Overview

Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum Toothpaste is the core toothpaste in Sensodyne’s Sensitivity & Gum range, created for people who have sensitive teeth and want to look after their gums at the same time. According to the manufacturer, it is formulated with stannous fluoride and is designed for twice-daily brushing as an everyday toothpaste. It helps clean plaque from the teeth and along the gum line while being suitable for regular use on sensitive teeth. This is the standard flavour variant of the range.

Sensitive teeth and gum care often go hand in hand, because gums that recede over time can leave more of the tooth surface exposed. Brushing technique matters as much as the toothpaste: a soft toothbrush, gentle circular movements and two full minutes of brushing help keep the gum line clean. In Malaysia and Singapore, where cold drinks and sweet desserts are part of daily life, many people notice sensitivity regularly. Using a sensitivity toothpaste consistently, rather than only when discomfort appears, follows the manufacturer’s recommended routine.

Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum Toothpaste suits adults who want one toothpaste for both sensitive teeth and everyday gum care. After brushing, spit out the excess and avoid rinsing straight away so the toothpaste can stay on the teeth for longer. It complements, but does not replace, regular dental check-ups and professional cleaning. Bleeding gums, swelling, loose teeth or ongoing pain should always be assessed by a dentist.

Directions for Use

  • Apply a pea-sized amount of toothpaste to a soft-bristled toothbrush.
  • Brush all surfaces of the teeth and along the gum line gently for about two minutes.
  • Spit out the excess toothpaste; avoid rinsing heavily with water straight away.
  • Brush twice daily, morning and night, or as directed on the pack or by your dentist.

Storage Instructions

  • Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place.
  • Close the cap after each use.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Sensodyne Sensitivity & Gum Toothpaste is generally well tolerated when used as directed.
  • Temporary tingling or sensitivity of the gums or mouth.
  • Mild irritation of the gums, tongue or inside of the cheeks.
  • Temporary changes in taste.
  • Allergic reactions such as swelling of the mouth or lips (rare).
  • Stop using and consult a dentist, doctor or pharmacist if any reaction persists.

Contraindications

  • Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredient listed on the pack.
  • Not for use in young children unless advised by a dentist; check the pack for age guidance.
  • Do not swallow; spit out after brushing.
  • If you have persistent tooth pain, swelling or bleeding gums, see a dentist rather than relying on toothpaste alone.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No known food interactions; brushing after meals is fine, but wait about 30 minutes after very acidic food or drink.
  • If you use a prescribed mouthwash or dental treatment, ask your dentist or pharmacist about timing it with brushing.
  • Avoid using several different fluoride products at the same time unless advised by your dentist.

Quick Tips

  • Brush using gentle circular movements rather than hard back-and-forth scrubbing.
  • Angle the brush towards the gum line to clean where plaque collects.
  • Use the toothpaste every day, not only when sensitivity flares up.
  • Clean between teeth daily with floss or interdental brushes.
  • Avoid brushing immediately after acidic foods or drinks; wait about 30 minutes.
  • Book regular dental check-ups.
