Overview

Tystatin Oral Suspension is a prescription-only medicine (POM) presented as an oral suspension, with Nystatin 100,000 units per ml as its active ingredient content.

This page is limited to product, safety and handling information, in line with Malaysian rules on prescription medicine information for the public. Your prescriber or pharmacist is the right source for anything beyond that, together with the leaflet inside the pack.

Through DoctorOnCall, this product is supplied after an online consultation with a licensed doctor and a valid prescription, and it is checked by a registered pharmacist before dispensing. Take it exactly as prescribed, and speak to your doctor before stopping, changing the dose, or starting any other medicine alongside it.

Directions for Use

Shake the bottle well before use. For oral thrush, hold the dose in the mouth and swish it around the affected areas for as long as possible before swallowing. Use after meals where possible.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Nausea or stomach upset
  • Diarrhea
  • Skin irritation (for topical use)
  • Mouth irritation (for oral use)
  • Rash or itching
  • Unpleasant taste in the mouth

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to nystatin or any excipient

Drug / Food Interactions

  • No clinically significant drug interactions are expected, as nystatin is not significantly absorbed into the bloodstream when used as directed.
  • Inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking, particularly if you are on long-term antibiotics that may be contributing to the fungal overgrowth.

Quick Tips

  • Complete the full course as prescribed, even if symptoms improve early, to fully clear the infection.
  • For oral thrush, try to avoid eating or drinking for a short time after each dose so the medicine can stay in contact with the affected areas.
  • Maintain good oral hygiene, including cleaning dentures thoroughly if applicable, to help prevent reinfection.
  • Contact your doctor if symptoms do not improve after the prescribed course.

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Nystatin 100,000 units per ml
