Overview

Vagisan Moisturising Cream is a cream with Water, Cetearyl Alcohol and Lactic Acid declared as its active content. It is supplied in a pack size of 50g.

This is an over-the-counter (OTC) product and can be purchased without a prescription. Only product, safety and handling details are published on this page.

An online consultation with a DoctorOnCall doctor or pharmacist is available for this product, and a registered pharmacist reviews each order before dispatch to Malaysia or Singapore. Follow the directions on the label and on the leaflet inside the pack.

Directions for Use

For internal use: fill the reusable applicator to about half-full, gently insert it into the vagina, and apply the cream, preferably at bedtime. This can be done daily or 2 to 3 times a week. For external use: apply a small amount of cream directly to the vulva and vaginal opening with clean hands, as often as needed throughout the day. The cream may also be applied before sexual intercourse, though it should not be used at the same time as condoms or diaphragms due to a possible effect on latex integrity. Wash the applicator with mild soap and water after each use.

Dosage

Not applicable — Vagisan Moisturising Cream is a topical/intimate-use cosmetic cream and is not taken orally or dosed like a medicine. For internal use, the applicator is typically filled roughly half-full and used once daily or 2 to 3 times a week; for external use, it may be applied as often as needed.

Shelf Life

Use Vagisan Moisturising Cream before the expiry date printed on the tube and carton. Once opened, use within the timeframe indicated on the packaging (commonly a number of months after opening, as shown by the “period after opening” symbol on the box) for best results and hygiene.

Storage Instructions

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the tube tightly closed after use, and store the applicator clean and dry between uses, out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Common: mild, temporary local irritation, stinging, or a warm sensation on initial application, which usually settles with continued use.
  • Serious (rare): allergic contact reaction with marked redness, swelling, or rash, which requires stopping use and seeking medical advice.

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity or allergy to any ingredient in the cream, such as benzyl alcohol or other excipients.
  • Do not use at the same time as latex condoms or diaphragms, as the cream’s emollient components may reduce their reliability; use at a different time or with a compatible lubricant instead.
  • Not intended to treat vaginal infections, unusual discharge, bleeding, or pain — these require medical assessment rather than self-treatment with a moisturising cream.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Vagisan Moisturising Cream is a hormone-free cosmetic/personal-care product with no known systemic drug interactions.
  • May reduce the reliability of latex condoms or diaphragms if applied immediately before use; apply the cream at a separate time from barrier family planning, or use a compatible water-based lubricant instead.
  • No specific food interactions are known for this externally/internally applied intimate care cream.

Quick Tips

  • Apply consistently, ideally at the same time each day or as recommended.
  • Avoid using scented soaps, douches, or harsh cleansers in the intimate area, as these can worsen dryness and irritation.
  • If using latex condoms or a diaphragm, apply the cream at a different time rather than immediately beforehand.
  • Wash the applicator with mild, unscented soap and warm water after each use and allow it to air dry.
  • Wear breathable cotton underwear to help reduce irritation in the intimate area.
  • See a doctor if you notice unusual discharge, odour, bleeding, or pain, rather than relying on the cream to resolve these symptoms.

Ingredients / Active Ingredients

  • Water
  • Cetearyl Alcohol
  • Lactic Acid
  • Sodium Lactate
  • Dimethicone
  • Lecithin
  • Glyceryl Stearate
  • Paraffin
  • Other skin-conditioning agents

Relevant Information

Precautions: Vagisan Moisturising Cream is intended for external and internal intimate use only and should not be swallowed or applied to broken or infected skin. Avoid using it at the same time as latex condoms or diaphragms. While it is hormone-free and generally considered suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding, those with underlying gynaecological conditions should seek medical advice before regular use.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Consult a doctor or pharmacist if vaginal dryness is accompanied by unusual discharge, odour, bleeding, pain, or burning during urination, as these symptoms may indicate an infection or other condition that needs proper diagnosis and cannot be addressed with a moisturising cream alone.
