Fludan is made from the following ingredient:-
  1. Flunarizine hydrochloride (5 mg)

The outcome resulted from taking Fludan are subjected to the intention of using it and the appropriate dosage of the medication consumed. It is advisable to take this medication with meal or immediately after eating. The drug should be strictly taken as per prescribed dosage by the doctor.

How to use Fludan?
Swallow the capsule in one go and do not chew it. Consume according to the dose prescribed by your doctor. Take this medicine 2 to 3 times a day.

Fludan Drug Interactions

Drug to drug interaction reaction of Fludan varies from a person to another person. It is advisable to check with your doctor about all the possible drug interactions before starting the medication.
  • Anti-anxiety medications
  • Anti-seizure drugs
  • Carbamazepine
  • Muscle relaxants
  • Phenytoin
  • Sedatives
  • Tranquilizers
  • Valproic acid

Keep the following precautions in mind as well:-
  • Avoid excess exposure to sunlight

Alcohol Warning (Not Advisable)
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Fludan 5mg Capsule. Taking Fludan 5mg Capsule with alcohol may worsen the side effects such as headache, and drowsiness.

Pregnancy Warning (D)
Fludan 5mg Capsule has not classified in the FDA Pregnancy Category.

Breastfeeding Warning (Not Safe To Breastfeed)
Fludan 5mg Capsule is contraindicated for breastfeeding mothers.

Driving Warning (Safe)
Fludan 5mg Capsule usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)
Fludan 5mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Fludan 5mg Capsule may be needed. Patients with urinary tract obstruction are contraindicated to take Fludan 5mg Capsule. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Warning (Safe)
Fludan 5mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Fludan 5mg Capsule and Liver Enzyme monitoring may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

There could be certain side-effects associated with the usage of the medication. Please refer to the list below:-
  1. Drowsiness
  2. Breast pain
  3. Constipation
  4. Tiredness
  5. Blocked or runny nose
  6. Muscle pain
  7. Aggravation of deppression
  8. Increased appetite
  9. Irregular menstruation

While some these symptoms are more common, there are a few rare symptoms that could also occur. If you are feeling any other symptoms (whether it is mentioned in the above list or not), please consult with a doctor immediately. These symptoms become more prominent as when one is undergoing a long term therapy with this medication.

1. What should I do when I missed a dose of Fludan?

If you have missed a dose by chance, try to consume it as soon as possible when you notice. If the time to your next dosage is close, simply skip the medicine. In such cases, try to not double the dosage. 

2. I  think I have accidentally overdosed from the prescribed quantity of Fludan. Do I need to see a doctor?

If you feel that you might have used more than the prescribed quantity of Fludan, please talk to a physician immediately as overdosage more than the prescribed quantity might lead to undesirable side-effects. 

3. Am I allowed to drink alcohol after taking Fludan?

There is no information available about the interaction between this medication and alcohol consumption. However please consult your doctor for advice. In any case, do not consume more than 90 mL a day.

4. Will the consumption of Fludan affect the child that I am bearing?

No it is not safe to use Fludan during pregnancy. You’re advised to consult an obstetrician for detailed information before start consuming this drug. Pregnant mother can weigh the pros and cons of the drug with the help of a doctor before it is used.

5. I am currently nursing my baby. Is it safe to use Fludan during breastfeeding or lactation?

No it is not safe to use Fludan during breastfeeding or lactation. You’re advised to consult an obstetrician for detailed information before start consuming this drug. Lactating mother can weigh the pros and cons of the drug with the help of a doctor before it is used.

6. Am I able to drive when I consume  Fludan?

Not recommended. Fludan might make you feel drowsy and calm. It can also impair thinking temporarily. Moreover, it can also cause blurred vision. It is considered unsafe to drive when you feel such symptoms.

7. Does Fludan have an addictive property?

This product is not addictive. Addictive medicines will be classified in schedule 2-5 in the US and schedule X or H in India. Please refer to the information on the package carefully.

8. What should I do if I mistakenly took an expired dose of Fludan?

Consuming an expired dose of Fludan by accident might not be harmful but do consult your physician for advice just to be safe in this matter. 

9. Can Fludan be used for migraine?

Yes, migraine is one of the most common reported uses for Fludan. Please do not use Fludan for migraine without consulting your doctor first.

10. How long should I use Fludan before I see my improvement of my condition?

Users of this drug will see an improvement in the condition within 2 weeks. These times may not reflect what you might have experienced or how you used this medicine. Please consult your doctor to find out how long you need to use Fludan.

11. Can you explain on the safety of the usage of  Fludan?

Fludan is safe to use if taken in the prescribed dosage as suggested by the physician.

12. Do I have to gradually reduce the dosage of Fludan or can it be stopped abruptly? 
There are some drugs that cannot be stopped immediately as it can have some withdrawal symptoms. It is suggested to consult your physician regarding the usage of the medicine as well as withdrawal symptoms, if any.

13. In a day, how many times should I take Fludan?

The dosage and frequency of Fludan is based on your condition. Use the drug as directed by your doctor or follow the instruction printed on the product insert.
