Bilaxten Orodispersible 10mg Tablets

Bilaxten Orodispersible 10mg Tablets contain bilastine, a second-generation, non-sedating antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis (such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, and itchy, watery eyes) and urticaria (hives), including itching, redness and skin swelling caused by allergic reactions. The orodispersible tablet format dissolves quickly on the tongue without needing water, making it convenient for people who have difficulty swallowing standard tablets or who need relief on the go.

Bilastine works by selectively blocking histamine H1-receptors, reducing allergy symptoms while causing significantly less drowsiness than older first-generation antihistamines, and is generally suitable for daytime use since it does not usually impair alertness at the recommended dose. Bilaxten Orodispersible Tablets are available as a non-prescription product for customers in Malaysia and Singapore for the short-term or as-needed relief of allergy symptoms.

Bilastine selectively and competitively blocks peripheral histamine H1-receptors, preventing histamine released during an allergic reaction from binding to these receptors and triggering symptoms such as itching, sneezing, nasal congestion, and hives; because bilastine has low penetration into the brain, it produces effective symptom relief with a much lower likelihood of sedation compared to older antihistamines.

Place one orodispersible tablet on the tongue, where it will disperse rapidly and can be swallowed with saliva, with or without a small amount of water if preferred. Bilaxten Orodispersible 10mg Tablets are generally taken once daily, ideally on an empty stomach (at least one hour before or two hours after a meal) for optimal absorption, unless otherwise advised by a doctor or pharmacist.

The usual recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above is one 10mg orodispersible tablet once daily; the dose should not be exceeded, and a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted for use in children under 12 years or for those with reduced kidney or liver function, as dose adjustment may be needed.

Use Bilaxten Orodispersible 10mg Tablets before the expiry date printed on the blister strip and outer carton, and do not use the product beyond this date.

Store below 30°C in a dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture, keep tablets in their original blister packaging until ready to use, and keep out of the reach of children.

• Known hypersensitivity to bilastine or any excipient in the tablet
• Not recommended for children under 12 years of age unless advised by a doctor
• Caution advised in patients with significant kidney impairment
• Should not be taken with grapefruit juice, which can reduce absorption of bilastine

• Grapefruit juice may reduce the absorption and effectiveness of bilastine and should be avoided
• Ketoconazole and erythromycin may increase blood levels of bilastine
• Diltiazem may also increase bilastine levels when taken together
• Concurrent use with other sedating medicines or alcohol may increase the risk of drowsiness, even though bilastine itself is non-sedating at normal doses

• Take on an empty stomach for best absorption, at least one hour before or two hours after eating
• Let the tablet dissolve fully on the tongue rather than chewing or crushing it
• Avoid grapefruit juice around the time of dosing
• Take at the same time each day for consistent allergy control
• Seek medical advice if symptoms persist beyond a few days or worsen despite treatment
• Carry the strip with you if you need on-the-go relief, as it does not require water

Bilaxten Orodispersible 10mg Tablets are intended for the relief of allergic rhinitis and urticaria symptoms and are not a cure for the underlying allergic condition.
