This medicine is for oral use only. Swallow this medication as a whole with water. Do not chew, crush or break it. It is better to take this medication at a fixed time each day if it is indicated for everyday use.
Before taking Plavix, please refer to the doctor's advice especially if you have any of the following illnesses. Contraindicated disease:
-Allergies to Plavix or any other of its ingredients
-Internal hemorrhage such as peptic ulcer disease or brain haemorrhage

Please stop taking the medication if you have the following symptoms.

Reaction between Plavix medicine:

Reaction varies by individual. You are encouraged to ask your doctor about the possibility of reactions between the medicines before taking them.
-Anticoagulation drug
-Other antiplatelet drug
-SSRI and SNRI drug
-Proton pump inhibitor drug such as omeprazole

This is a incomplete list of reactions between medicines and illnesses that may interfere with Plavix drugs.

Before you take this medicine, please tell your doctor about all the medicines you take. Remember the following:

-Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight
-Avoid using this medicine in prolonged time
-Alcohol may affect your liver if taken with this medicine
Tell your doctor about any other illness you are experiencing or about your other medications
use. Do not stop taking medicines that have been determined by the doctor

Alcohol Warning (Safe)
It is safe to take alcohol with Plavix 75mg Tablet. However, it is advisable to consume alcohol in moderate amount because drinking too much alcohol while on Plavix 75mg Tablet might irritate the stomach.

Pregnancy Warning (B)
Animal studies have failed to prove that there is a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate human studies. As no data is available, it is recommended not to use Plavix 75mg Tablet during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding Warning (Limited Data)
There is limited human data on whether Plavix 75mg Tablet is excreted in human breast milk. Animal studies demonstrated that Plavix 75mg Tablet is excreted in breast milk. It is advisable that breastfeeding is discontinued following treatment with Plavix 75mg Tablet.

Driving Warning (Safe)
Plavix 75mg Tablet usually does not affect the ability to drive. Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Kidney Warning (Use With Care)
There is limited study on the usage of Plavix 75mg Tablet in patients with renal impairment. This, it is recommended that Plavix 75mg Tablet should be used with caution in such patients.

Liver Warning (Limited information)
There is limited experience in patients with liver disease who may have bleeding tendencies. In such a population, Plavix 75mg Tablet need to be used with caution.

As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

Apart from the function of Plavix and its use, there may be side effects associated with this drug. Please see the list below:

  1. Hematoma
  2. Bleeding nose
  3. Diarrhoea
  4. Dyspepsia
  5. Stomach pain
  6. Bruises
  7. Rotting rashes
  8. Brain hemorrhage
  9. Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP)

Although some common symptoms usually occur, there are fewer symptoms which are rare can also occur  . If you have any of the above symptoms, please talk to the doctor immediately. You should also consult your doctor if you have blurring vision or skin rashes. The above list may be incomplete and please inform if you have other symptoms. These symptoms are more pronounced if the drug is used extensively.

Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Dyspepsia, Hematoma, Bruising, Epistaxis, Bleeding at puncture site, Steven-Johnson syndrome, Myalgia, Hematuria

1. I forgot to take a dose of Plavix on a specific day. What should I do?
If you forget to take a dose of your medicine, please take the medication once you remember. But if the time has come or is near for the next dose, ignore the unnecessary dosage. In such a situation, avoid taking twice as much dosages as advised.
2. I used over the Plavix medication from the recommended quantities. What steps should I take?
If you think you have taken Plavix more than recommended quantities, please consult your doctor's advice immediately. Medication overdose may lead to undesirable side effects.
