Polymyxin B is an antibiotic that works by interrupting the membrane of the bacteria thus causing leakage of bacterial components out of the cells.

Polymyxin B Related Warnings

Alcohol Not Advisable

It is not advisable to take alcohol with Polymyxin B as it may have effects in increasing flushing and dizziness in patients.

Pregnancy Not Safe

Polymyxin B may not be safe to be used in pregnancy as animal studies have shown adverse effects on the animal fetus. However, controlled studies on both animal and human are not yet available.

Lactation Limited Data

Polymyxin B is considered safe to use during lactation. There is no data available in the matter, therefore, medication can be given but with precaution.

Driving Not advisable

Do not drive unless you are feeling well. Polymyxin B may cause temporary unclear eyesight. During this time, it is advised that a patient does not drive.

Kidney Use With Care

Polymyxin B should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Also, dose adjustment of Polymyxin B may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver Limited Data

Although Polymyxin B can be used in patients, it is best that caution is practiced.
