3M Nexcare Tegaderm Waterproof Transparent Dressing (10cm x 12cm) contains Transparent polyurethane film and Medical-grade hypoallergenic adhesive and is presented as a healthcare product. It is supplied in a pack size of 4s.

Directions for Use

Clean and dry the surrounding skin thoroughly before application, as the adhesive bonds best to a dry surface. Remove the backing without touching the adhesive underside, position the dressing so it fully covers the intended area with a margin of clear skin around the edge, and smooth it down from the centre outward to avoid trapping air bubbles or wrinkles, without stretching the film as you apply it.

Leave the dressing in place for up to around 7 days per manufacturer guidance, or change it sooner if it lifts, leaks, or becomes visibly soiled. To remove, lift one corner and gently stretch the film sideways, parallel to the skin, rather than pulling it straight upward, which reduces pulling on the skin underneath.

Storage Instructions

Store the pack flat in its original packaging, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excess heat. Keep out of the reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild redness or irritation at the adhesive border, particularly with extended wear or on sensitive skin.
  • Common: Slight skin marking after the dressing is removed.
  • Serious: Signs of an adhesive allergy such as spreading redness, blistering, or itching beyond the contact area should be assessed by a doctor or pharmacist, and the dressing should be removed if this occurs.

Contraindications

  • Not for use in anyone with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to acrylate adhesives or polyurethane film.
  • Not intended for wounds that are heavily exuding, deep, or already infected, since a transparent film dressing is designed for lower-exudate, more superficial areas rather than heavily draining wounds.
  • Not suitable as a substitute for professional wound care on wounds requiring stitches or ongoing clinical dressing changes.
