It is classified as a prescription medicine and may only be obtained with a valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner.

Only product, safety and handling information is published here. Anything beyond that is explained to you directly by your doctor or pharmacist as part of your consultation.

DoctorOnCall is a licensed online pharmacy. Orders for Augmentin 228mg/5ml Suspension are processed only after a doctor has assessed your suitability and issued a prescription, and every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is sent out.

Directions for Use

Shake the bottle well before each use. Measure the dose accurately using the oral syringe or measuring cup provided, and give at the start of a meal to reduce stomach upset. Complete the full course even if your child feels better before it is finished.

Shelf Life

Use the unreconstituted powder before the expiry date on the packaging. Once mixed into suspension by your pharmacist, use within the number of days stated on the label (typically 7 days) and discard any remaining suspension after this period.

Storage Instructions

Store the unmixed powder below 25°C in a dry place. Once reconstituted into suspension, store in a refrigerator (2-8°C), do not freeze, and keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Skin rash or itching

  • Previous history of jaundice or liver problems associated with amoxicillin-clavulanate use
  • Infectious mononucleosis (glandular fever) – increased risk of skin rash

Drug / Food Interactions
