Overview

Bioplast PE Transparent Bandage contains materials and components and is presented as a bandage. It is supplied in a pack size of 10s.

It is classified as an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine, so no prescription is needed to order it. Under Malaysian rules for medicine information, this page carries product, safety and handling information only.

You can consult a doctor or pharmacist online on DoctorOnCall about this product before or after you order. Every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is delivered. Always read the label and the leaflet supplied with the pack.

Directions for Use

Wash and thoroughly dry the skin around the area to be covered, as the adhesive bonds best to clean, dry skin free of oil, lotion, or loose debris.

Select a strip large enough that the adhesive border extends well beyond the edges of the area being covered.

Peel away the protective liner from the plaster without touching the central pad, then position the pad directly over the area and press the film edges down firmly on both sides.

Smooth the film outward from the centre so it lies flat against the skin without trapped air bubbles or creases.

Change the strip if it lifts at the edges, becomes visibly soiled, or after approximately 24 hours of wear, whichever comes first, and always use a fresh strip for each new application.

To remove, lift one corner gently and peel the film back slowly, keeping the pull parallel to the skin rather than straight upward, to reduce discomfort.

Dosage

Not applicable. Bioplast PE Transparent Bandage is a wound-care device (an adhesive film bandage) and not a medicine, so it is not dosed. It is applied as an individual strip, sized and positioned according to the area being covered, as described under Directions for Use.

Shelf Life

An exact shelf-life duration is not confirmed here; please check the expiry date printed on the individual strip wrapper or outer carton and use the product before that date. Do not use a strip if its wrapper is torn, punctured, or already open.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and excessive moisture, ideally at normal room temperature. Keep each strip in its sealed individual wrapper until it is needed, and keep the outer carton closed between uses. Keep out of reach of young children.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild, temporary redness or a faint adhesive mark at the edges of the strip after removal, particularly with frequent reapplication to the same area.
  • Common: A sensation of skin dampness or slight sweating under the film during prolonged wear, since the polyethylene backing is less breathable than fabric.
  • Serious: Allergic contact dermatitis, appearing as itching, blistering, or a spreading rash beyond the area covered by the strip — stop use and seek medical or pharmacist advice if this occurs.

Contraindications

  • Known allergy or hypersensitivity to polyethylene film dressings, medical adhesives, or similar adhesive plaster materials.
  • Direct application over actively bleeding wounds, deep puncture wounds, burns, or infected skin without prior guidance from a healthcare professional.
  • Use on skin that has previously reacted with blistering or severe irritation to this or a similar adhesive film dressing.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Not applicable — this is a topical adhesive wound-care device with no drug or food interactions.

Quick Tips

  • Apply the strip to clean, dry skin for the most secure adhesion of the film backing.
  • Smooth the film outward from the centre to avoid trapping air bubbles or creases underneath it.
  • Change the strip after light water exposure, such as hand-washing, if the edges start to lift.
  • Check the skin under the film periodically during prolonged wear, since the backing is less breathable than fabric.
  • Remove the strip slowly, parallel to the skin surface, rather than peeling it straight upward.
  • Keep unused strips in their sealed wrappers until needed so the adhesive stays fresh.

Relevant Information

Precautions: This bandage is intended for external application to intact or minimally broken skin only. Because the polyethylene film is less breathable than fabric backings, avoid leaving a single strip in place for longer than recommended, and check the skin underneath periodically, particularly in warm or humid conditions. Take extra care in young children, elderly individuals, and people with thin or previously irritated skin.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Speak with a doctor or pharmacist if the skin under or around the strip becomes increasingly red, swollen, blistered, or painful, if a rash spreads beyond the covered area, or if the wound underneath shows signs of infection such as increasing pain, warmth, discharge, or fever.
