Overview

Candid Cream is a topical antifungal cream manufactured by Glenmark, containing clotrimazole 1% w/w, an imidazole-class antifungal formulated for application to the skin. It is available in Malaysia as an OTC (Over-the-Counter) product, sold without needing a doctor’s prescription at retail and online pharmacies including DoctorOnCall.

Candid Cream is part of a wider Candid range of clotrimazole-based topical products from Glenmark that also includes Candid 1% Topical Dusting Powder and Candid 1% Lotion; the cream formulation is best suited to localised areas of skin where a thicker, more occlusive layer is wanted, while the powder suits larger areas prone to moisture (such as inside footwear) and the lotion spreads more easily over broader or hair-bearing areas. Candid Cream is a distinct product from Canesten-brand clotrimazole creams, which are a different manufacturer’s formulation, and from Canesten V Cream, which is formulated specifically for vaginal use rather than general skin application.

Candid Cream is sold in Malaysia in tube pack sizes such as 20g and 60g; check the product packaging or listing for the exact pack size and net weight supplied with a given purchase.

Directions for Use

  • Clean and dry the affected area of skin and the surrounding skin before applying.
  • Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area and the immediately surrounding skin.
  • Gently rub the cream in until it is absorbed.
  • Wash your hands after application, unless the hands are the area being treated.
  • Apply as directed on the pack label or by a pharmacist, usually two to three times a day, for the full course length stated, even if the skin looks improved before the course is finished.

Dosage

For adults and children, apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area of skin two to three times a day, or as directed by a pharmacist, for the course length stated on the pack label. Most courses of topical clotrimazole run for two to four weeks depending on the area affected; follow the specific duration printed on the pack label. If there is no improvement after two to four weeks of regular use, or if the condition worsens, stop self-treating and see a doctor or pharmacist.
