Overview

Canesten 1% Cream is a white, smooth, topical cream containing clotrimazole 1% w/w as the active ingredient. Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal and the product is made by Bayer. The cream is for external application on the skin and is not intended to be swallowed.

The cream base is made up of ingredients such as benzyl alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol, octyldodecanol, polysorbate 60, sorbitan stearate, cetyl palmitate and purified water. The base is water-miscible and non-greasy, which means it spreads easily and is absorbed into the skin without leaving heavy residue. The product is supplied in a tube in the pack sizes shown in the variation options on this page.

Canesten 1% Cream is an over-the-counter product sold through DoctorOnCall as an online pharmacy serving customers in Malaysia and Singapore. The brand is widely recognised by pharmacists and consumers, and the pack carries a leaflet with full instructions. Our pharmacist team can answer your questions about application, safety and suitability before you place an order.

Directions for Use

Wash and dry your hands and the skin area thoroughly before application, particularly between skin folds and toes, as moisture can affect the area. Squeeze out a small amount of cream and apply a thin layer to the affected skin and the area immediately surrounding it, rubbing it in gently.

Apply two to three times daily, or as directed on the pack leaflet. Continue using the cream for the full period stated on the leaflet, even if the skin looks normal sooner, so that the treatment course is completed as directed. Wash your hands after each application unless the hands are the area being treated.

For external use only. Keep the cream away from the eyes, mouth and inside the nose. Use your own towel and clothing and wash them regularly while using the cream, and do not share the tube.

Dosage

For adults and children, apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area and the surrounding skin two to three times daily, or as directed on the pack leaflet. Use only the amount needed to cover the area with a thin layer, and do not exceed the frequency stated on the packaging.

Continue for the duration stated on the leaflet. If a dose is missed, apply it as soon as you remember and then carry on with the usual schedule; do not apply extra cream to make up for a missed dose. Consult a doctor before use in infants and young children, and see a doctor if there is no improvement after the period stated on the leaflet.

Storage Instructions

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the cap tightly closed after each use and keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not freeze.
