Overview

Carnation Corn Caps Plaster contains materials and components and is presented as a plaster. It is supplied in a pack size of 5s.

It is classified as an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine, so no prescription is needed to order it. Under Malaysian rules for medicine information, this page carries product, safety and handling information only.

You can consult a doctor or pharmacist online on DoctorOnCall about this product before or after you order. Every order is checked by a registered pharmacist before it is delivered. Always read the label and the leaflet supplied with the pack.

Directions for Use

Wash and thoroughly dry the affected area before application, as the adhesive components bond best to clean, dry skin.

Peel the backing from the adhesive foam ring and position it so the hardened area sits within the central opening of the ring, away from surrounding healthy skin.

Peel the backing from the medicated patch and place it centrally within the opening of the ring, directly over the hardened area, then press the edges down firmly.

Leave the patch and ring in place for approximately 48 hours before replacing with a fresh patch and ring, unless it lifts, becomes soiled, or causes marked discomfort sooner.

Continue this replacement cycle for up to 10 days of total use, then stop and reassess; do not continue beyond this without a pharmacist’s advice.

To remove, lift one edge of the ring and patch gently and peel back slowly and parallel to the skin, then wash the area with clean water.

Dosage

One medicated patch, secured within its accompanying adhesive ring, is applied to the affected area at a time. The patch is generally left in place and changed approximately every 48 hours, with treatment typically continued for up to 10 days in total unless a pharmacist advises otherwise. Do not apply more than one patch to the same area at a time, and do not exceed the maximum treatment duration stated on the packaging without seeking further advice.

Shelf Life

An exact shelf-life duration is not confirmed here; please check the expiry date printed on the individual patch wrapper or outer carton and use the product before that date. Do not use a patch if its wrapper is torn, punctured, or already open.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture, ideally at normal room temperature. Keep each patch and ring in its sealed individual wrapper until needed. Keep out of reach of children, as the medicated patch contains a concentrated keratolytic ingredient.

Side Effects

  • Common: Mild to moderate localised skin irritation, redness, stinging, or a burning sensation at the application site.
  • Common: Peeling, whitening, or softening of the skin directly under the patch as the salicylic acid takes effect.
  • Serious: Chemical burns, ulceration, or skin breakdown extending beyond the intended treatment area, particularly if the patch contacts healthy skin, a mole, a birthmark, or skin with reduced sensation — remove the patch and seek medical advice if this occurs.

Contraindications

  • Known allergy or hypersensitivity to salicylic acid, aspirin, or other salicylates.
  • keadaan kesihatan kronik tertentu mellitus or any condition causing reduced blood circulation or reduced skin sensation in the feet, such as peripheral neuropathy, unless first advised by a doctor or pharmacist, due to the increased risk of skin damage going unnoticed.
  • Application to moles, birthmarks, warts with hair growing from them, genital or facial skin, broken or infected skin, or open wounds.
  • Use in infants and young children, unless directed by a doctor or pharmacist.

Drug / Food Interactions

  • Concurrent use of other topical keratolytic, exfoliating, or salicylic acid–containing products on the same area is not recommended, as this may increase the risk of excessive skin irritation or chemical burns.
  • People taking oral anticoagulant medicines or other salicylate-containing medicines should seek pharmacist advice before use, as absorption through damaged or extensively treated skin is a theoretical consideration, although systemic interaction is not expected with normal, localised use on intact treatment areas.
  • No specific food interactions are known with topical use as directed.

Quick Tips

  • Always apply the protective adhesive ring before the medicated patch, positioning the ring so only the hardened area sits within its opening.
  • Change the patch and ring approximately every 48 hours, and do not exceed 10 days of continuous treatment without checking with a pharmacist.
  • Avoid letting the medicated patch touch surrounding healthy skin, moles, or birthmarks.
  • Wash your hands after handling the patch, and avoid touching your eyes or mucous membranes.
  • Wear loose, comfortable footwear while the patch is in place to reduce pressure and friction on the area.
  • Stop use and seek advice if the surrounding skin becomes unusually red, painful, or starts to break down rather than the intended treated area.

Relevant Information

Precautions: This product should be used only on the small, localised area of hardened skin it is intended for, and never on broken, infected, or inflamed skin, moles, birthmarks, or facial or genital skin. People with keadaan kesihatan kronik tertentu, poor circulation, or reduced sensation in the feet should seek medical or pharmacist advice before use, as they may be at greater risk of skin damage that goes unnoticed. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and parents considering use in children should also seek pharmacist advice first.

When to See a Doctor or Pharmacist: Stop using the patch and see a doctor or pharmacist if the surrounding skin becomes increasingly red, painful, blistered, or shows signs of breakdown or infection such as discharge, warmth, or fever, if there is no improvement after the full course of treatment, or if the area affected is larger than a typical corn or appears unusual in any way.
